2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray – First Drive

After decades of anticipation we finally get to drive a mid-engine Corvette. Hallelujah! The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a mid-engine supercar with naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8, an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, a removable roof panel, and a zero to sixty time of less than 3 seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. As dazzling as its performance credentials is the new Corvette’s starting price under $60,000. How does all that automotive potential translate to the open road? Kelley Blue Book’s Karl Brauer was fortunate to get an early test drive in the 2020 Corvette and is here to share his impressions.

Arguably the greatest thing from Chevrolet in the last 50+ yrs hands down! This vehicle incorporates everything the Corvette has been from it's inception minus the manual capability!! Definitely needs a manual as an option just for the sheer connection between man and machine. Kudos to Chevrolet for going above & possibly beyond our expectations!! Mr.Zora is somewhere smiling & giving this a big thumbs up!!!

Theres a few things I would do to modify the exterior. For starters that spoiler would have to go. Forged black chrome wheels that align with the body. Blacked out reverse lights splitter. Removing the stingray and corvette emblem and replace that with a corvette logo that matches the trunk. Too of vehicle would be black. 20% tinted rear windows and 35% driver and passenger windows.

I like that steering wheel. It’s a real smart design. Now the top of your steering wheel won’t slightly block some of your view over the dash. Allowing US to SEE MORE OF THE ROAD... slightly, but for some... that makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE when racing / tracking, or just a better driving experience for some of us who just enjoy driving it on public roads. A GREAT car! Thank You Chevy!

First one to test the new vette that’s impressive

0:56 "...enough power to get the Corvette to 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds while providing a top speed of 194 miles per hour. Now to get those numbers you have to spring for the Z51 performance package" No, the 3 second to 60 mph, and 194 mph top speed is the regular version. The Z51 package tops out at 184 mph and accelerates faster. The Z51 has more downforce through the rear spoiler, which ultimately holds back the top speed. It has a different final drive with higher numerical gearing at 5.17:1 vs the regular C8 Stingray has a 4.89:1 final drive ratio.

the new Corvette C8 will be the performance car of the coming decade. it's been making waves and headlines unlike anything else really, it's gotten so much love and praise throughout the automotive enthusiasts world and hasn't even been released out into the publics hands yet.
the hype is very real !
