I have 2 great questions: 1-Say I don't get an LLC for my publishing, (only for production company), and I create a personal account on BMI site, and let's say an "x" amount of time has passed since I've started submitting beats to major artists. Finally, an artist ends up buying one and creates a major hit. Now let's say the worse case scenario happened, (especially right when I'm trying to just break in the industry 😩) and that major hit contained a melody line that I've involuntarily infringed upon. Then I get sued in federal court and lose. The fine is at least six digits. Would I be screwed (with no K-Y) out of my personal possessions, like my house and personal car? And if so, to cover my ass, 2-Am I able to open a personal account first, then once I'm finally able to afford the $150 Publisher LLC filing fee with Legal Zoom, (as soon as I recover from the $150 fee for the production company) would I be able to switch my account from personal to my publishing company? 🤔

If an artist gets a million streams, and THEN signs up with BMI as a songwriter, will the songwriter royalties be waiting there for them? Or does an artist need to sign up as a songwriter prior to the streams? Thanks!

Still confusing to me. I'm releasing songs I both wrote and perform, as an independent artist. If I sign up with a PRO as a writer only, don't they hold back 50% for a publisher? Don't I have to register as a publisher to get the full share. Also, if I get an administrative publisher, like Tunecore Publishing, will they sign me up with the PRO, or should I do that myself first?
