Cracking video! Reminds me of a trip me and the wife made a few years ago to Tenerife. I hired a F650GS and was told to go to the nearest petrol station about 1K away to get petrol. It was a hot day. We got there ok and I filled up. Next thing I knew it was all over the forecourt. One spark would have set the station on fire. Turned out a seal had gone on the plastic tank. Nice start to the holiday! We ended up with a 900 Tedium.

I've had my tank on R1150GS dripping around mounts - surely wasn't plastic - when bike was previously used in the rough it started ripping holes around the mounts where it sits on rubber grommets. Obviously it wasn't until it got to me that it started leaking. Loved the bike though.

Must be a US petrol thing. I have two plastic tank 1100gs in Oz with zero issues. Allegedly bigger than the steel replacements too

Hi, thank you for the video.
I'm wondering: I have two 1100 GS (one 1994, one 1995) - both with plastic tank and they're perfect.

Hello Mr. Harris, I follow your tutorials with great interest, I own a bmw r 850 r from 1996 ... very satisfied with the bike, I can't find anything that explains how to connect the additional rev counter on the bike, I saw a used one in good condition ... is there a connection under the petrol tank? can you help me? Thanks for answering.
A cordial greeting from Spain.
