Pop culture news websites after this panel:

"Who is schlinkle-schlonkle the lovable scrunkle from Marvel's phase 58 Disney+ original series? True believers may recognize him as the plucky young sidekick from the sleeper hit comic series 'The Serialized Adventures of Shidfard' that ran for 5 issues in 1967. His adventures would continue well after the original run, however, as he cemented himself as a fan-favorite recurring character in many storylines such as 'Shidfard Wars' of The New 69 reboot..."

Can't wait for my grandkids to inherit my MCU opinions in the will and continue watching Phase 58 after I'm gone

You're forgetting the part where they leave gaps in the timeline because they need something else to announce for Disney's convention because the hype must never end.

"The movie that everyone liked but no one loved" describes too many MCU films.

Its gotten to the point that non-superhero, non-action movies are automatically more exciting by virtue of just existing.

I kinda feel like their current trajectory is completely justified when you consider how every film and TV show will help in building up to the finale "THE CHRONICLES OF MORBIUS AND WONG AND THE FRIENDS THEY MADE ALONG THE WAY" which will shatter our perception of cinema. Some may be irritated, but I am more than happy to wait another 69 years to see how they will manage to pull that off.

Meanwhile at DC’s panel,

“We think Superman could show up someday”.

I cant wait till they make a movie where a superhero fights a bad guy and there are these really silly jokes in the middle of serious moments, that would be awesome

Thank you marvel for single-handedly saving cinema. Can't wait to watch 2hrs of cgi where quirky good guy beats Big bad guy

And, according to reviewers, they'll all be the best Marvel movies ever.

And then the one movie everyone is genuinely excited to see ends up being 40% good and 60% trash, but it’s still the biggest movie in the world on opening weekend until the other 12 Marvel movies release in the following few months.

There are always folks making bets on which Marvel film will “fail” but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. More likely these films are gonna keep coming out, keep making money, but the cultural interest is going to slowly fade away until it’s a zombie franchise that is still around, but which no one really pays attention to. Like the Simpsons.

Meanwhile, Sony releases “The Big Wheel” film to continue to capitalize on every Marvel character they have the rights to.

Forgot to mention introducing a billion new McGuffins that end up being irrelevant or cancel each other out

Everything Marvel seems to be a setup for The Next Thing which in turn is a set up for The Next Thing with no real payoff. It's like a giant commercial for it's own product that never quite arrives. The story doesn't matter, either. As long as current movie or series has enough EASTER EGGS for reddit to hunt down and split hairs over.
"They are DEFINITELY introducing mutants at the end of Falcon and Winter Soldier! There are over 50000 references that only make sense in the X-Men universe. Okay it's coming soon! Look how heavy handed they're being now, breaking into the building with the X signs all over it?!"
"...Oh. Well FOR SURE the Scarlett Witch is going to introduce mutants at the end of WandaVision. You see, in the comics, she..."

I really wonder if Disney understands that what made this movies special is that they were events. Having two Marvel movies per year was really pushing it but at least they were separated by 5 or 6 months. Same thing with Star Wars, you actually had two or three years between movies. This not only keeps them special but also gives the people working on them time to polish scritps and visuals. And I mean, not even Disney animation and Pixar release so many movies per year. This is really insane.

I’ve never been the target audience for Marvel’s schtick, but I’ve always respected the movies for what they are, even if they’re not my cup of joe. My wife loves them so I ended up seeing nearly all of them.

I have no idea wtf they were going for with Phase 4. I’m not even close to current because even she tuned out. If my wife stops giving a shit about the MCU, there’s an issue. She didn’t even suffer any massive disappointment. Just tapered off.

Then there’s the “movie with an actual decent villain? Wow this is rare. He’s kinda right to think the way he does, hopefully we get more-and he’s dead.”

The MCU is a franchise clearly beginning to buckle under its own weight. Die-hard fans are getting fatigued at the constant stream of new content, and casual viewers are alienated by the sheer amount of background knowledge required to understand the newer stuff. Not to mention the quality is just generally going down because of all the weird production decisions (like how the actors barely know the context of their own lines.)

My buddies and I call this "The Ubisoft Effect". We were all in a call talking about games and someone brought up how Ubisoft doesn't make good games anymore, and then most of us disagreed but couldn't really say which game we had played that stood out. So then we just kinda looked at their releases and realized that they're a 7 company. Every game is a 7/10, guaranteed. It won't be an 8 or 9 anymore, no, their Ezio trilogy days are over. But, it also won't be a train wreck, it'll be playable, have a decently fun gameplay loop, and then after about 5 years have 3 sequels and 2 spin-off games. Same thing happens to almost EVERY studio, game, film, or otherwise. Eventually they stop taking risks, focus on what they're good at, and release things that'll appeal to everyone but will wow nobody.
