Trout Catch and Cook with Ramps and Morels

Two buddies of mine and myself did exactly this back in October. Packed everything in, went way up into the mountains of north Georgia and set up tents. Spent 4 days living on the trout we caught and what little rice we brought.

My two best friends and I spent a weeklong canoe trip out in the woods on a creek during Xmas vacation in 1975 in Florida. We ate a lot of huge bluegill. One guy fishing, one guy cleaning, and one guy cooking. We were seniors that year, and knew that we'd never have an opportunity to do that again in our lives. We were right.

One of my favorite memories from my childhood was when my dad took me fishing and he taught me how to clean the rainbow trout we caught. Cooked them right there too and it was incredibly delicious. Never had fresher food than that day

I'm vegetarian, but I'd eat that in a heartbeat. Wild caught is the most humane and fair way to eat meat. It's also just a great thing to be self-sufficient. I really respect what you're doing and I appreciate you sharing it. It's got me interested in camping myself.
