Polar Warriors?

"I've had a lot of viewers ask about or comment on the name I chose for the channel in back in August of, 2017, It's reasonable to assume that the word “Polar” relates to “Bi-POLAR Disorder, however, there's a little more to it than that ;)... Another assumption would be that the word “Warriors” relates to some mid-evil warrior, running around with a Samurai sword, trying to conquer their bipolar. However... it's a little more meaningful to me than that...

So, to do something different on the channel today, I thought it would be fun to make a quick video about the Polar Warriors name. Hope you enjoy!"

First you look amazing! Had a three week manic episode. Manic phase is not fun for me. When it’s over and I see the very bad choices I had made it crushes me. And when I’m having a major depressive phase I totally isolate. So hard to have friendships or relationships. I’m lonely most of the time. The worst part is in each episode everything makes total sense to me until it’s over. It’s just like a flip switching . So hard to deal with. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. I'm glad you explained the meaning of the name you chose for your channel. The bravest of warriors are quietly and determinedly seeking peace, truth and enlightenment. They may feel fear and tread gently but they keep pursuing their path regardless for the sake of their own well being and that of others. Thank you all you do and for never giving up.

Thank you for your channel! I only discovered it recently. I struggle with bipolar-2, and I am also a clinical psychologist.

I'm finding how few of my patients have been told what bipolar is all about... even though they have been in mental health treatment for decades.

Your videos are full of many things that important for them all of us who struggle with this. You also say it in ways that are easy to understand.

It can be difficult to explain what's happening in my head and life without words that have those negative connotations, like mental illness, mood disorders, etc. It's really hard to give a description that doesn't project something negative in my head. Unfortunately, the stigma against mentally ill people is still pretty high. Any name we are given will eventually be seen as a bad thing as long as stigma is high. I believe lowering stigma is the only way for bipolar (or a new name) to not have negativity associated with it.

Well about a week ago, I confided in one of my adult daughters that I was feeling as if I Wouldn't be missed at all if I just wasn't around anymore, via WhatsApp, because that's how we communicate, she then went off on a Tirade of Insults and Cruel Accusations, then told me I was Being "Selfish and Self Centred, " And has been giving me the Silent Treatment Ever Since...But apart from That, Life's Great ! 😶
I forgot to mention, I'm 60, and have several Chronic Illnesses, including MS, along with the Bipolar.

Robert, when I was first diagnosed with bipolar, I was looking for videos and stepped upon your channel I learned a lot!! I've been going through a depressive episode for some time and chose to cut social media for now. I'm reading books, and it is helping a lot. I'm forgiving myself and giving myself the time to heal. I come from an Arab country and not so many people believe in bipolar, it kinda feels lonely. I'll be watching more videos :). I also do karate, my sensei really likes kata and now I see why. I hope to continue on learning more. Thank you for your videos. Keep going!
