There's something about e-ink tablets that iPads don't have....

Eink Tablets like the remarkable tablet are very different devices. Team ipad vs team eink?

Unlimited pages, closeness to paper and amazing battery life.

But I guess there's a lot that iPads have that eink doesn't!
The closest device to iPad is boox, but even that doesn't quite let you do the same, but that's not why you're buying a e ink tablet. Let's face it.

This is why they will replace many paper notebooks in the next few years.
Unlimited pages - never wonder which notebook you write that in again.

Writing feel like paper - really desirable

Amazing battery life - most of these devices you can use all day and only charge at the end of the week!

After a very long thinking and searching period, I tried to buy a pen for my tablet. Didn't work well... The search did go on.

Read all about the remarkable 2, boox, supernote. Bought a boox note 3 and been using it for almost a week now, and I am super happy with this decision.

All the writing, but also the digital books (work), the ppt handouts... I use it for so many things. My Kobo e-reader can also retire.

The battery life is much more than great, the writing experience is great, the display always keeps on when I'm teaching (doesn't work as well with an iPad).. Great device. It's expensive, but it is a wonderful device.

Thank you for all the reviews.

Both... iPad for content consumption; e-ink for thoughtful work and play.

A tablet that’s oled on one side and e-ink on the other 🤩 that’s the dream for me.

Definetly e-ink for professional note taking and document review. I'm feeling great with my Supernote A5X. 10.3" display is perfect size for me.

I have heard it said that we type from the head but handwrite from the heart. I have a small e-ink device but regret not getting a 10 inch model. I use my small one for notes, reminders, organization. My iPad is great but it is not meant for writing on although I have taken notes on it. Ultimately, I am happy with both. My next purchase with be a larger e-ink tablet so I can get more handwriting on a page. Excellent video.

I don't think I would have any use for an iPad or any other traditional tablet: my phone is always with me for "small" stuff in a way a tablet wouldn't, and for "heavier" activities I'd rather use my laptop or work PC.

But I'm strongly considering an e-ink tablet for reading, and on top of that also considering whether the substantial extra price for a writeable one would be worth for me. So I'm binge-watching your videos, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The reMarkable 2 is a wonderful piece of tech that's also very limited. Something about their software only writing OVER the files and somehow making it really hard to export your notes to your PC? Can't remember, but I sure did watch a lot of videos about it. It costs about as much as an entry-level tablet and it does so much less. It's very hard to justify the money vs traditional pen and paper. And now they're trying to monetize it with subscription services too, which is a big fat no from me. Yeah, it feels good, but I can't justify it over a tablet, unless they make it that much better and more complete, well-rounded product. Think of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 2.8ms response time.

My primary reason for eink is eye strain. If Apple could figure out the eye strain issue (instead of tinkering) I would absolutely just use the iPad. I went ahead and purchased the Supernote and it is fantastic, though I do find myself going back-and-forth between the iPad and the SuperNote for different things, but the eyestrain is killer. I have reduced white point and put on a paper-like screen protector that is supposed to reduce glare, etc. It helps, but at the end of the day I still feel the strain whereas the eink tablets feel great on the eyes.

I am on team I haven’t decided yet :-) I said before I think every device has pros and cons and each has the right tool for the right job!

That’s far I have tried the remarkable the kindle scribe and my iPad. I have to say overall the remarkable definitely has a nicest feel for writing. And the kindle scribe has a long way to go! I will add it’s a small thing but I love that the kindle scribe changes the cover of your tablet with different images.

I also have a Rocketbook which I think people tend to forget about with all the cool eink devices.

An iPad dose nothing I can't do on either my phone or a computer and for me it's not as good as either for what I want devices like those to do. E-ink tables however are like notebooks with added functionality and to be fair even if it was just a notebook with unlimited pages I'd be tempted just for that. I like writing notes by hand sometimes it's just the easiest way to get your thoughts out and that's what I want one of these devices for

Been waiting on my supernote A6x for two months, beginning to think China has decided to quit shipping anything to the U.S.

I have an Onyx Book Air and, although it is nice for the eyesight, I way prefer the possibilities that come with the iPad + Doodroo screen protector. To name a few awesome apps: GoodNotes, Zotero, Obsidian + Excalidraw, Numbers-Excel... iCloud syncing....imo eink tablets are not tablets yet just digital notebooks even textbooks with color figures are hard to read/markup

I've been taking notes in PC tablets, iPads, and of course physical notebooks as a core part of my personal and professional practice for decades. I find myself less satisfied with the iPad options at this stage due to a number of factors, the largest of which is continuity. I find my notes spread across Notability via the iPad, OneNote, Pocketbook, and physical notebooks and that is what I mean by continuity. I want to consolidate my professional notes, research (reading/notes), musings, and how I store all of that information. I don't expect it to double as my productivity center, that's what the phone and laptop are for. I find the Remarkable 2 very intriguing and if they pulled in the Kindle app and allowed a split screen between notes/reading it would probably be my solution. Onyx flexibility would be great but I would probably find it distracting. Great reviews and you have got me thinking more seriously about what I want and also what I really need.

Microsoft surface with Microsoft journal. I need a full productivity device. That said, working on the field with an e ink device must trump tablets.

Perhaps the purpouse of having e-ink tablet is to have a practical tool that doesn't distract you from productivity and focus like an iPad could do. I have an iPad but the more I have it the more I feel vulnerable by his multitool permanent connected utilities. Somehow I decided to get rid of it and and embrace a more disconnected life, in order to not lose the manuality in things the apps and devices substitute them. Of course you can just use paper at some point but an e-ink tablet would be more practical and allows me to read e-books in more situations

Well, #1, I don't like Apple Products. LOL I've tried a couple of "regular tablets" and just couldn't find a use for them. It was basically like having another phone but just larger. More distractions. Lol I've had the reMarkable 2 since September and now the Onyx Boox Max Lumi 2 and I am finally satisfied. I don't experience eye strain and what the reMarkable can't do, I use the Lumi to do. reMarkable is good for journaling and note-taking for me. Plus the lack of distractions is a huge bonus with my ADHD. The Lumi 2 is better with reading ebooks and articles. It allows me to use a bluetooth keyboard which I use for Microsoft Office. Mainly Microsoft Word where I am working on my next book. Handwriting recognition is great and because of its size, everything is much easier to see. And a bonus is being able to use the same pen on them both if I want to. I think I've typed enough. LOL BYE!

Let’s face it, there’s just something about pen and paper that e-ink tablets don’t have… and they never will.
