Bought a Supernote A5X around a month ago and it completely change the way I work. I can cast it to my computer and use it at meetings, I can hyperlink stuff, it has free integration for cloud services (looking at you Remarkable) and the writing experience has been great for me, as someone who had a Tab S7 for notes but never used it much because the battery was trash for my purpose. The only thing missing from the SN is the Onedrive integration but that is already being worked on which is great.

I'm a musician and currently I'm using an ipad during performances. I use it specifically for reading music and nothing else. I'm frequently performing outdoors and the ipad is hard to read in sunlight. What I'm looking for in an e-reader: At least 10" screen. Backlight when needed. Syncing with Dropbox. A speaker. Note taking.

I've been down the e-ink rabbithole for a couple days and I think I'm more confused now than when I started.

I have a somewhat unusual situation. I need it to primarily read pdf files that are scanned images. These are scanned very old books that do now allow increases in text size to make them more readable due to my deteriorating eyesight. I would like a larger format e-reader, 10" or more, that would allow resizing the image so that the text fills the page side to side in landscape. I can do that on a touch screen laptop, which I have done on an old Microsoft Surface, but the high glare screen is a problem.

Any suggestions?

The main thing I would use an e ink tablet for is take notes in the margins of ebooks and pdfs and export my notes. Being able to draw would be great, though not necessary at all. What tablet is the best for that?

You said you do your writing in the day; I feel like all my thoughts come at night when I am drifting off to sleep and I do need an e-ink backlit notepad to keep by the bedside to not blind myself or my partner. Thoughts? I have a kindle and I love the brightness of it and can even stand having a separate device from it instead of combining both in the scribe if it’s that bad.

Remarkable is out because I refused to have a subscription for my hardware purchase. That is a bad miscalculation on their part.

I didn’t think I deeded the font light but then I had a professor who often turned the lights out when presenting on the smart board. Every student with a notebook was fine in the dim light but my SuperNote was unusable without a light. The contrast simply wasn’t high enough for me to write in the dim classroom. And now I’m looking for a boox device :(

Im a real estate agent and have apple everything, however walking through a house with my iPad air resting on one hand and writing on it, believe it or not gets really heavy on the wrist. I am considering the remarkable really only for having a notebook for each property, being able to write my notes when walking through a house and having access to all of that without carrying a briefcase full of folders.

The one feature I'm specifically looking for is the option to turn my tablet landscape and have an ebook on the left half of the screen with notes open on the right half so I can actively note-take while reading (my dream would be if those notes were intuitively cross-synced to the page I was on when they were written)
I see the onyx boox is able to manage it through Android 11's native split-screen. Is such a feature available on any other E-ink tablet systems?

My ideal pairing as a new university maths student is a RM2 for notes and maths practice and a tab ultra c for pdfs and chat gpt. I’ve just ordered a RM2 so halfway there!!
