Bootstrap is great. If you want to do something fast, quick and easy, use bootstrap. It's easy. As it's not necessary for you to use grid or flex box. You may cut the complexities. Simple answer from me is if you have less time, use bootstrap. If you have a lot of time and you want to reinvent the wheel, use plain CSS but it can go extremely wild so never put CSS classes on classes that are being used by javascript or some other functionality. Keep them separate. For noobs, i would recommend to understand atleast basic CSS and box model. (padding, margin, border, content, handling overflow, aligning items, etc)

Hey Stef, you should make one about Tailwind! I took your CSS course originally. Tailwind is basically the same thing, just much faster to get started, more efficient, and makes for easier coding time and structure! And you can still make classes and what not :)

Bootstrap is a powerful tool.
You get a lot of functionality out of the box.
If you need more you can customize it.

yes you are right! You don't need html and css, but if you have time you can learn it in 5 minutes. You don't need bootstrap but you can learn it in 30 minutes. You don't need javascript but if you have time, you can learn it in 35 minutes. You also need to no Java but if you have time it will takes you 40 minutes to learn. It is as easy as that!

Im not specifically an expert front end dev. When I have to make a full stack app for a project, I use it to get the styling dealt with.

I suppose it depends on whether you're working for yourself or a firm ; these firms like to bang out front ends fast. Often they will use bootstrap and then ultilse wordpress as second part of the process. So, tailwindcss & bootstrap is a must know for them. Its good to come in with that knowlege. but it would be bad idea to just learn it without fully understanding css properly. Depends how much experience of code whether such a technology will be easy or very hard to learn. If someone is new to dev and looking for that foot in the door job, then its a good sell to an employer and not as hard as trying to learn something very advanced like react. It can, however, be overwhelming trying to learn something like bootstrap for a starter though.

I think they're complementary. Flexbox & grid give more control, as they don't come with the unintended "side effects" BS can trigger. Throwing something together fast to have something to look at while doing non UX related stuff is nice with BS.

I do like flex and grid in css, and I prefer it, but I am taking the time to learn BS and do a small landing page project with it.
