Driveaway Awning Trial Run! | Outdoor Revolution Movelite T2

I do a trial run putting up our new driveaway awning, in our garden. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes to put up and take down. Hopefully that will improve on site.

We do Motorhome Reviews, Motorhome Days Out, Help, Hints and Tips on Motorhomes, Motorhome Tours in the UK and Europe, we visit Motorhome Shows, and spend over a third of our year living in a motorhome. In fact all things motorhome!

I aim to release a video each week, every Friday at 18:00, as a minimum, when we are at home. When we are away on a trip or at a show I aim to do a daily video, but this will vary depending if I have a signal.

Thanks for the good chuckle nice light hearted overview of a divorce in a bag, glad the two of you made it through safely ;-) We have just acquired a 2018 T3 Vario, well it was until I did one of my sewing adjustments to it (video coming up in a while) now fits on a pitch much better and maximises our space internal space as the walls are squarer, I wanted the vario as I added a zip between the main and canopy sections as I wanted to be able to separate them for club site and larger CL type pitches and be able to use the awning as a tent!!! Your 2019 T2 looks great - perfect little space for longer stays and to keep the rain off. Two things I've found with ours is to arrange the outer "canvas" on the ground sheet (I notice you had quite a lot on the grass when rolling up) so that when you fold/roll up no outer fabric need touch the ground and if you fold in from the opposite end to the valves it helps to clear the air (I also tend to walk over my tubes towards the valves (with socks on) to expel any last pockets of trapped air rather than using the deflate on the pump) and you can fold clean side to clean, again to keep mud, etc. restricted to the underside on these very pale awnings. I also found that our pump tube had a habit of exploding off the end of the connector attached to the valve so I make sure they are tightly connected when I move from tube to tube otherwise the shock of air suddenly hissing out is rather loud!

We’ve got a Vango drive away airbeam. Instead of attaching it to the awning rail we extend the actual awning out over the awning about a metre. This creates a shelter and don’t have to mess about lining up when you get back. We tried this method after a really stormy night - the noise of the awning attached kept us awake.

Hi Bob, when putting the awning away have you tried putting the bag on the awning and then turning the whole thing over, it seems to be much easier than trying to stuff the awning into the flat bag (hope that makes sense). I find it much easier to put away like that.

Great vlog. Would be interested in your views on air awnings. we recently changed our caravan awning from an air to a poll as I found it just as easy to put up and because of the lack of air polls in side, it feels bigger. First time out of the bag, it took about 40mins to erect, i'm sure that time will drop after a few more goes.

The additional weight and size makes me think it wouldn’t be worth all the stress I have gone down the awning route a couple of times but they have all ended up on eBay and lost quite a lot of cash as a result.I can see the reason why you might add one to a caravan but it defeats the object of motorhoming to me.If we wake up and decide to move I don’t to start taking down an awning and packing it into a bag which somehow never seems big when the wind has picked up.Only my opinion of course but awnings are just too much hassle.
