. In this Building Management System Training/BMS Training video, we will discuss dampers, motorized actuators, and damper actuator sizing. We will also talk about other commonly used controlled devices in the Building Management System(BMS) like fans, chilled water pumps, and steam humidifiers.

Dampers are used to control airflow in Air handling units(AHU), Fan Coil Unit(FCU) and inside VAV box. We also talked about different types of dampers used in HVAC. Dampers can be controlled either manually or by using motorized damper actuators.

It is very important to select a proper damper actuator for your application. Motorized Damper Actuator selection parameters include:
1) Type of control required for damper
2) Operating voltage for the actuator
3) Spring return or non-spring return actuator
4) Damper Actuator torque rating

In Building Management System(BMS) fans are commonly used inside Air handling units(AHU) or Fan coil units(FCU) to supply conditioned air to the zones or they are used as Exhaust Fans to take air from the spaces like toilets, kitchens, Isolation and operation rooms in Hospitals.

Chilled Water Pumps are used in HVAC to supply cold water to the Air Handling Unit(AHU) and Fan coil unit (FCU)
Steam Humidifier is used to generate steam which is injected into the supply air to add moisture to the air.
