i honestly could use advice. i’m about to go into senior year but i’m somewhat of an intellectual late bloomer. the following is only meant to provide information to my weird situation: freshman year wasn’t great and sophomore year was terrible leaving me with a 2.1 gpa. i also wasn’t involved in anything extracurricular unless you count skateboarding and my short lived soundcloud career. Junior year, i had somewhat of an existential crisis that led me into a deep passion for philosophy and psychology. I got straight A’s, received multiple state and national awards in speech and debate and mock trial (i also was elected debate captain), im the founder and president of 2 clubs (chess and philosophy), im a semiprofessional guitarist, as well as an employed part time guitar teacher at my local middle school. i have a few other awards and things as well that i’m involved with but those are my main focuses. i’ve gotten my gpa up from a 2.1 to a 3.2 in just one year, but i’m getting nervous with senior year and college apps approaching. is it even possible for me to get into a good school? i honestly feel that i’m barely going to make it into a normal uncompetitive school. im not trying to get compliments or sympathy, i honestly just need application advice. do you think my improvements will give me a chance anywhere or am i just completely screwed from my freshman and sophomore years? should i just settle for colleges that are easy to get into?

If you don’t have awards, it NO WAY means you are not doing anything. Hopefully this is understood by colleges. The honors section is just a supplement to the application but shouldn’t be used to compare two students in my opinion. The activities section is a far better predictor of success. Plus, having all international awards is not possible for some because of not available opportunities. So this honors section is personally not my favorite part of the application

The only honor I got wasn't from school necessarily, but it was the President's volunteer service award, bronze level. I don't know how I got it in the first place.

Tbh I feel thankful that I do not have to have amazing honors but I was not so lucky to get some besides having the aice diploma and my associates from dual enrollment. Thankfully my extra curriculars may aid as I have enforced neighborhood crime watches, led neighborhood book clubs, donated food and toys to local daycares on christmas, and even grow vegetables and tutor my cognitively disabked brother
