Meghan Markle was once instructed to leave the red carpet in an 'odd moment' during an event with Prince Harry in Morocco.

The Duke and Duchess touched down in Casablanca Airport in 2019 where they were greeted by the British Ambassador and his wife before the awkward moment took place.

When her husband Prince Harry stepped out the car and walked the red carpet to inspect a guard of honour, the former Suits actress followed behind but was quickly halted by a member of staff who seemed to be giving her some instructions.

As H was heading directly to inspect the guard, it makes sense as this is only done by the visiting royal/dignitary; wives do join their husbands in this ritual. She should have known this protocol.
