LOL I remember that Tower in alabama. I know who did it. I am not friends with them but I know who did it. They used to work for the tower company. They used to go around cutting the ground wire from the top of the tower. I'm assuming it was for drugs but they never seem like drug heads to me I think they just did it for the money cuz they know how much it was worth. There was a ton of copper there that would be disguised as a regular metal spray painted to keep these away. So many years have gone by that they just start talking about it one time I was hanging out in a group with them. They laugh about it like they were good times lol

Radio Towers aren't becoming Obsolete.
They're needed for many types of communications

These towers are needed for PEP Incase of emergencys these towers would be the backbone for alerting people using the EAS system.

We will need them one day. We are relying too much on vulnerable digital technology. We should have radio towards for backup.

As a Radio enthusiast and Ham guy, Thats painful to watch. I'm willing to bet most all those towers that come down were perfectly viable yet, sadly no longer needed.

My radio is NEVER off. I love music and the radio is how I hear new music. The daily stop listening to music is the day I die.

In Australia our rarest Grey Falcon benefits from outback communication towers. Creating nesting habitats, the numbers of these endangered falcons are increasing.

I so much miss Short Wave Radio listening of the 1980s-2010s. They were the best time for SWLing.

In rural areas, those towers were the only thing giving us connections, including digital. Now, no tv, no hi speed, sketchy 4g and no 5g. And now the phone companies are being allowed to even retire phone land lines.

They don't want us to use them again.

I figure a huge part of the cost is getting maintenance workers who can change the light bulbs at the top.

Something else to consider with 5G technology you have limited range. That means in the space of maybe one Tower to cover a 50-mile radius you may need as many as five or more towers depending upon the terrain. Telecoms have added three more towers within line of sight of my home.

Yeah because they don't want you to be able to use them in a time of crisis because it might be the only form of communication we may have
