Once, while stationed in Germany, I scheduled a test ride in an S5. When the dealer asked where I was going to take it I joking said "the Nurburgring". He said "You're going to need more fuel to get there" and handed me 40 Euro.. I didn't think I actually had enough time to go the 4-5 hours round trip so I just stayed local. I still kick myself today for not going taking that free car on the ring that day.

I used to do that same shit, Ed. Not with 29869275235 dollar supercars, but with all kinds of random stuff and my dad always used to say, "why are you always driving cars you can't afford?"

My reply: "How else am I going to know what I like?"

Now that I CAN afford all this stuff, I know (and have) exactly what I want.

I too HIGHLY recommend all automotive enthusiasts get behind the wheel of anything and everything they possibly can. Personally, I want to drive ALL THE THINGS!! Killer info, Ed.

Is it true Ed teaches Sunday school?

“So, God told Abraham to kill his son Isaac. Now, Abraham was a shrewd negotiator...”

When Ed tells a story is it not like you are there in the car or the showroom with him? They way he can narrate a story is truly unparalleled by anyone on here except for Rabbit. Let’s get to 1 million subs Vinwiki!

I remember there was a BMW event at my beach. I got in to this private event (idk how) and was immediately greeted by BMW staff with food and drinks. Soon after, they offered me which BMW I’d want to ride in so I choose the i8. I got to go in a 30 minute i8 ride around my beach island. It was an amazing experience. This happened when I was 15 and I’m 18 now 😂

Ed, it's still sort of easy lol. I inquired about a BMW M4 a few hours ago, and the first response i got back was "I booked a test drive for you, hope to see you there!" without even saying absolutely anything about a test drive. i just send them an email saying if the car was still available. Maybe when they see i'm 17 when i get there they'll deny me the test drive, LOL.

Mr. Bolian has been a shrewd negotiator and a smooth operator right out of the womb. Probably came out the womb negotiating the hospital bill.

By far one of the best automotive channels out there. Also really cool concept about tracking automotive history, really unique! Hope to see you at some Atlanta car meets Ed! I'm in Athens but I go to a good amount of ATL meets

Or make some good connections, my sister's boyfriends brother works at a Ford dealer near my house and let me come over and thrash the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, and Focus RS. I took the RS on a quite enthusiastic drive on all the twisty roads. Although I can't afford an a new RS right now it definatley increased my affinity for Ford by 10x.

I actually started doing this last year and have gone to a BMW, Audi, and Lexus driving events. But it's difficult since these events rarely happen near me or they're not free. My goal is to get to drive one of my dream cars, a McLaren.

Ed's stories are by far the best on VINwiki.

What I've done a few times is go into the dealership and ask questions about the car, not specifically like I'm looking to drive it, just trying to compare it to similar cars, for example a mustang v Camaro. My most seccessful was actually asking about the acceleration of the viper vs hellcat, so I ended up with about 20min each in both hellcats and the viper in one go

There are few benefits of being middle aged as opposed to being a 20-something, but being able to put on some nice clothes and go in to a business and be taken seriously is one of them! Sadly driving an exotic car I can’t afford to buy is much less of a draw to me now than it was when I was 20.
