Iconic Jet Aircraft - MiG-15 Dogfighter

Revolutionary design made the Soviet MiG-15 one of the best dogfighters of its day, and is believed to have been one of the most widely produced jet aircraft ever made.

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 was a jet fighter aircraft developed by Mikoyan-Gurevich OKB for the Soviet Union. The MiG-15 was one of the first successful jet fighters to incorporate swept wings to achieve high transonic speeds. In combat over Korea, it outclassed straight-winged jet day fighters which were largely relegated to ground attack roles, and was quickly countered by the similar American swept-wing F-86 Sabre. The MiG-15 is often mentioned, along with the North American F-86 Sabre, as the best fighter aircraft of the Korean War, and among the best fighter aircraft of all time.

Clip from the documentary “Tycoon Toys - Fighter Jets”.

What do the super-rich choose to spend their hard-won zillions on? We meet individuals who have a particular penchant for owning, driving and firing huge pieces of ex-military hardware, from field guns to tanks to fighter jets. Tycoon Toys goes on a journey to watch them at play.

The design of these and the 17s plus the 19s are just bad ass looking. Never get tired of watching videos of these great aircraft.

I saw my first MIG-15 in the early 1980's. I was surprised at its small size. I can understand why the MIG-15 excelled in dogfights because an opposing pilot would have a hard time seeing it at high speed.

When I saw this at an air show I was so happy because it wasn’t as loud as planes like the Blue Angles or Thunderbirds

The MiG 15 was designed American bombers. The reason for the 37mm cannon. The B-29 being the bomber the Soviets feared the most when the MiG came into service.

3:53 if thats how it does the landing, then it's no joke to just come back home after the flight.

I saw this exact aircraft at the Santa Fe airshow several years ago. I also accidentally wandered into the hangar where that T-33 is kept, before getting kicked out, lol.

If you had 1000 of these in WWII you would be guaranteed air superiority
