A Famous MiG-15 Kill that Didn't Really Happen

In November of 1950, the Korean War was witness to the first jet-vs-jet victory.

The initial dogfight happened between an American Lockheed Shooting Star and a Soviet MiG-15 during an attack on the Sinuiju bridges south of the Yalu River.

The Americans were outnumbered and their aircraft technologically inferior, but they quickly proved to have superior skills and plenty of determination to face their enemy.

The encounter led by pilot Russel J. Brown would be claimed as the first jet-vs-jet victory, but it was later found that the Soviet aircraft returned to base safely.

Still, it would take just one more day to match the incredible feat and take its rightful place in history...

50% of your Shooting Star footage is actually F9F’s

I was so confused by the narration talking about F-80's but seeing B-25's, P-38's, McDonald FH1 and F2H, F-84 and F86 fighters...

The narrative and narration are very good. Unfortunately there is shocking little imagery of the Lockheed P80 Shooting Star in the video. Not a thumbs down, but not a thumbs up either.

Some of the "shooting star" footage was footage of Navy Banshees

When you talk about Lockheed F-80 Shooting Stars, you should have videos of Lockheed F-80 Shooting Stars, rather than McDonnell Banshees, Grumman Panthers, Republic Thunderjets, or North American Sabers. It detracts from your story when your viewers doubt the veracity of your presentation.

would it really kill you to put the right image with what you are talking about?

They planes shown in the video are practically everything OTHER than F-80 Shooting Stars. Amateur Hour.

Tip: if you're talking about the P-80, don't show navy fighters, F-86s, and F-94s.

Let’s get another thing straight here… it’s a P-80 shooting star, well before it was ever an F

These videos are cool n all, but I've seen 1 short bit of F-80 footage... Everytime I hear 'Shooting Star' I see F-84 Thunderjets or F2H Banshees

Opens with a voice over talking about a P-80 Shooting Star while footage of an F2H Banshee rolls underneath. Classic Dark Skies.

Talking about Airforce P-80/F-80....shows video clips of Navy Banshee and Airforce
Yep, typical "accuracy" here.

If you were discussing the F-86 Saber, why did you use 1953 footage of the captured MiG-15 delivered to the USAF by a North Korean defector?

Mig 15 is a very beautiful plane. I would love to own one.

4 August 1944: an RAF Gloster Meteor knocked a Fieseler V-1 out of the air. That is, a jet-powered airplane scored a victory over another jet-powered aircraft SIX YEARS before the Korean War. A total of 14 V-1s fell to Meteors during WWII.

The KW kills represent jet-on-jet victories between MANNED aircraft.

First jet on jet kill belongs to a gloster meteor shooting down a V1

Most of the "p 80`s" you show are F9F Panthers. They also flew in Korea. My Uncle flew them in Korea.
