This "warrior princess" wasnt even mentioned by name nor played any notable narrative significance in this battle when Tolkien wrote about it. They literally sidelined Helm and his sons to make a completely noncanon story centered around her.

The animation looks great and so does the voice acting. But a "i dont want to be in an arranged marriage" princess story? Eh im not super thrilled about that. The world of middle earth is more creative than that.

But then again this is just a preview and ill definitally give it a shot.

I am not against adapting Tolkien, but why again, if you want to tell a story of a warrior princess, choose to adapt a story where the princess in question is unnamed and mostly irrelevant to the original story?

When it comes to Middle-Earth, I'm one of those people who goes into it with an open mind, mainly because there were so many changes between the original films and the novels and those films have been considered the best fantasy films of all time. Peter Jackson famously said that Lord of the Rings "Is unfilmable if you go page by page, scene by scene. It'd just be a mess." The question is how well are these changes implemented. Is it filler for the sake of extending runtime (The Hobbit Trilogy), is it stuff that needs to happen to adapt the story to film (LOTR Trilogy), or is it just bad writing (Rings of Power)? In this case, its difficult because they're adapting a story from the appendices which has backfired in the past, but there have been multiple instances of a small story being expanded that have worked really well. Read "The Fall of Gondolin" for a good example.

Truly groundbreaking narrative choice to make the main character a woman who is great at everything and the only thing holding her back is stupid men. I wish more Hollywood movies would go this route. Can't wait for this to come out and force me to question everything I believe about life. Chills.
