A compilation of some of our most loved Japanese homes that we’ve shared on Never Too Small, featuring small home designs for families, tiny plots deep in the heart of Tokyo smaller than a car parking space, oddly shaped homes spread across multiple levels. All examples of beautiful and detailed design, even if at times outwardly chaotic.

I really love how Japanese integrate nature in their urban living.

As a Japanese and has been watching NTS for a long time, I have been waiting to see when NTS would come to Japan, and I am glad to see that they are taking it up so often these days.

I love Japanese houses. It's somehow inspiring to watch how they come up with the ideas and then make them real. I also love the little spaces around where they live, especially the Tsubo house's space where the homeowner puts out a chair and sits.

In the first video I cannot believe how much is in a small space and also I loved the outside garden and the kitty free to roam and inspect the plants....

I got so inspired by all of the homes! I especially got ideas on how to use space effectively and how to maximise the use of natural light. It is also comforting to know that minimal spaces doesn't mean devoid of unique and personal, even very artistic touches. I live in 37 sqm and while it's a rental apartment (absolutely nothing is allowed to leave a mark) and there's only so much I can do, there's still so much I can apply.

It’s good to see someone isn’t minimalist this channel. It’s more realistic.

Loved the last one the most, hadn't seen it before. Full of character, and still really functional.

Thank you sir from house #2. The album with the moustache guy was intriguing me, so I “google lensed” it. Kenny Rankin, House of Gold, it’s worth a listen. BTW, I love you house, and the fact that you live with your mother 😊

I love that they don’t make large or private bedrooms a priority. Togetherness and nature are at the forefront.

Thank you for featuring Proopsy in one of your videos. I took your advice and contacted him for modular homes, and the house have been incredible. Paid slightly less than $29k, and now I’ve paid off my $129k 15 year loan in 8 months. Now totally debt free because I rent it out on Airbnb. Love having no debt for the last 5 months. Thank you Proopsy!

Sensitive use of plants, shadows, natural lighting

I can see why the second apartment has the most views, its the most concise and well thought out space out of all of them and for such a small space it has a very peaceful vibe, the rest felt chaotic by comparison.
