I had it for years and finally had surgery. It was horrible. I'm so glad I had a wonderful surgeon.

My mom had this its called the suicide disease because majority of victims kill themselves within 5 years of getting it, she fought through for 7 years while owning businesses and raising me and my siblings. She finally got a groundbreaking surgery at the U of MN in 2020 which changed her life, While occasionally she gets pain but not often, I got my mom back and I cant thank the doctors enough!

I always think to myself

the fact that it doesn't kill you but it makes you do it yourself is absolutely terrifying.

In NeuroAnatomy we talked a lot about this. When they call this is suicide disease it’s not bc the patient actually wants to kill themself. It’s bc they’ll do literally ANYTHING to make the pain go away and in that kind of pain you’re not thinking about the consequences of a gun to your face or the overdosing of pain meds.

And the worst part is, even though the attack has finished, all is left is the memory of pain lingering around the eye. It constantly makes you anxious and makes you wonder when the pain will come back 😔

My mom has it and an another really rare desease since she had me,
she’s been bearing the pain for 18 years and is still going on in life, at some point she even had to use oxygen bottles to feel better. She doesn’t use them now but we still have some left just in case she needs them again. it’s really painful to see my mother close her eyes, not saying anything with a suffering expression in her face. I even blame myself for it. She’s done everything for me and she still know how to laugh through her pain. A true warrior.

I have this awful condition. The pain was severe for me but not as bad as the man in the video. TN is known to randomly disappear sometimes for years which is what happened to me. My neurologist said I’m in remission and it could or could not come back. I’m only 20 and hope it at least doesn’t come back for awhile. I’m just glad there’s options out there for it to make it less painful and more manageable. I wish anyone else who has this all the relief in the world ❤

My father has this. One of his doctors said it was by far the worst case of it they had seen. Absolute champ for making it through... even when insurance denied life changing mediation...

My dad suffers from this an passes out/vomits from the pain regularly, don’t know much about it but he has brain surgery every couple of years with radiation treatments to the brain inbetween, it goes away temporarily but always comes back. He works a 9-5 in a steel factory while suffering, staunchest man I’ll ever meet.

His description of it is as if someone has a taser set on a voltage we haven’t yet discovered and is just holding it to his jaw

My mother has this. It is among the worst diseases a person can have because it literally never ceases and only gets worse with irritation. For a long time she considered suicide but couldn’t go through with it because she didn’t want me to grow up without a mom. She’s the strongest willed human being I have ever known. She has stood so strong for so long and while I don’t want her to die, I won’t be sad when she does. She deserves a little peace after all these years

My dad had this but thankfully it finally went away today. It was scary as hell to see him in such pain especially considering he was already dealing with a form of cancer.

My Mom has this. I feel so awful when I see her like this. We've noticed stress has a lot to do with it. She's doing better, lately. Thank God!

My aunt has this torturous condition. She became severely malnourished because eating would almost always stimulate her TN. There was a time that she needed to use IV just to rehydrate. She couldn't even smile even if she wanted. Fortunately, her condition is better now.
