Sorry if this point was mentioned and I didn't pay attention, can the officers not just make up a suspicion on the spot to stop you? Like how would I know if they have reasonable doubt (evidences, previous convictions etc) about me? They could just say it''s confidential info and still search you, so in that case how should you react? Cheers.

I got pulled over last year by 5 armed response vehicles, Police drew there weapons and I was handcuffed by the side of the road, told I was not under arrest but they explained the car I was driving failed to stop the previous night (my works vehicle which I only drive). The police after asking found my ID in my rucksack in the car and after a chat with other officers decided to let me go. One officer took a photo on his phone of my driving licence and calmly said thanks and drove away. No apology 😂 it didn’t help I was dressed in black (work clothing) and had a beard 😂 nothing like guilty until proven innocent eh. I think they thought I was some master criminal but they soon realised I wasn’t I was so calm and just thought someone from work had pranked me.

I've never been searched or stopped by the police before and I like to keep it that way I always bring my camera and my phone with me at all times and I record for my safety

So if "most" Stop & Search [4;15] lead to no further action, this completely undermines the vast majority of policemen's suspicion decisions, and must question either their competence or their underlying attitude.

I have just discovered your channel and, especially as an immigrant without even the advantage of an internalised understanding of the system, it is very important for me to try to learn what the rules and laws are, but I find that there are very few easily understandable and accessible information in that regard. For instance as also someone with ADHD, it is very hard for me to slog through pages of written legal text, and straightforward, easily digestible videos are definitely a win for me!

Would you please be able to make more of these on other things like your rights when the police are handling your case, how to understand when your case is being intentionally mishandled, and what you can do about it?

I watched this video because I got stop and searched when I was coming outside a store, I didn’t buy anything and I didn’t steal anything - when I was leaving I got grabbed by 2 officers in plain clothes they shown their badges and I seen their wires and everything before I went in the store. As I came out they grabbed me said I was looking suspicious around the valuable items?? I was so confused like why didn’t you search anyone else? I am a mixed race boy with braids maybe that’s why they searched me, he was definelty looking for a knife or drugs on me.

Q- if the police stop you on the pretence of suspecting you have committed an offence, but you know yo haven’t, and you refuse to give your name etc etc, can they legally search you. If so they will find your name etc from Id in your wallet surly

this is ver good but how do you record the search if they have taken your phone and you are in cuffs? and for me I would intemperate cuffs as being under arrest because you would be confined by them.

Reasonable grounds means they can do what they want at the moment of being stopped.

Only thing missing is the principle that every citizen should help the police in carrying out their functions, eg the protection of life and property, the prevention and detection of crime. If you know or believe that you can help the police in achieving any of those, then please do so.
