Easier ways to complete On Parade Los Santos Mercenaries mission GTA Online: how to destroy Avengers

An otherwise great mission is spoiled by the 'boss fight' of the Merryweather Avengers that can take a huge amount of damage, but you can make the process much easier by using the cannon if you have the skill or by staying above them and doing fly pasts.

there is NO reason for the avengers to be this tanky other than to waste your time.

This mission SUCKED 😭

It took me over an hour, my suggestion is to take out everything else before targeting the avengers, for helicopters using VTOL mode is pretty good just look out for rockets, for jets just use missiles/machine gun, and for the avengers you can try to get them stuck if you want, but for me I just took them up super high and then strafed them from below, make sure not to fly too far past them or they could hit you, and you can only use the gun because for some reason rockstar doesn’t let you lock on from below.

On hard theres two avengers, and i was doing It by myself, a big mistake but after 32 retrys i got it.

Basically fly to any big body of water, activate VOTL, then fly over the water far away from them and wait for them to come to you(dont fall into the water yourself) 8/10 times they fall in the water if you are low enough

Lead the avengers to the wind turbines and when they get stuck unload your cannons

I ended up taking all helis and jets out first hitting avenger on occasion then i flew over the mountain ridges and sat in hover mode low on the other side. As the avenger would come over i bombarded it as much as i could, then took off back over the other side and did the same thing. I did this over and over bringing the avenger down. I died a couple times before i tried this strategy.

PRO TIP: you don’t need to fire a shot at them. The pilots are TERRIBLE. If you fly low and go to the city, they’ll crash into the hills or one of the buildings. Likewise you can put on stealth and fly through the canyon to use those weapons against them or just take them to the wind farm and have them getting chopped by those.

I managed to get a jet to fly into an avenger lol, not alot of damage but it helped

That mission was the biggest pain in the ass. I seemed to glitch it by getting it caught on a bridge. When I was flying away it popped up and said I'd passed the mission

Just fly to city and let them crash to buildings. Easy mode.

I flew to the canyon where the air defense missiles were and they crashed

I gave up on attacking them and just made them crash. Way easier that the bullshit of attacking them

Don't know how, but I magically got 1 avanger to dissappear or crash from full health 2-3 times so I only had to deal with 1 which I took to the windmills.

How I actually defeated avanger was that i was circling in hover mode around avanger shooting rockets and in mid time i shot it woth explosive canon

I’ve tried 80% accuracy on this and I keep failing every time. I know that I’ve not missed any with my homing missiles, and R* notifications can’t give me the achievement. Did I do something wrong or is this a bug?

The cannons are terrible, in hover mode i shoot the helis wirh the cannon with the dot literally on their heli, and it doesnt hit them, so annoying

just take it over the ocean and make a few fly-bys

If you fly through the SAM area in stealth, the avengers and jets disappear 😂

Once you take out everything but the avenger, fly to the city and just sit next to maze bank tower and wait
