Really nice. Where i live, even a hand drill is expensive. This video helped me choose the right option for me, brace and pit. Thanks a lot.

I was just passed down a selection of antique hand tools from three generations ago. It included a selection of hand drills including a bit brace and some of the geared hand drills! Great video. Thanks dude.

I just got a hand drill today, I ordered it online last week.
It's a tool which always interested me and I've been building up a toolkit recently so I bought a double pinion geared kind.

I've got to drill out some holes in a plank and some holes in a pvc pipe to make something and a few holes in the wall to put some anchors for putting hooks up, so as soon as I get paid on Wednesday I'm buying the wood, pipe, drill bits and a stud finder and I'm getting to work 😎

I also used the bit brace for holding a screw driver (a removable shaft) to turn stuck wood screws.

“For long term durability proposes the manufacture has chosen to use polymer handles over traditional wood handles”.
I have 3 brace and bits two are 80, the other is 100 years old. The wood handles are perfect. Moving forward could we start demanding honesty from manufactures? Just tell us how it is. It’s not a durability issue, it’s a cost issue both in material and manufacturing. So it’s about profitability. Which I’m all for profiting as much as possible for a product. Just be honest and say “we would love to provide you a brace and bit set that’s not only functionality and historically accurate but also of equal quality of original examples but sadly rosewood and comperabl wood species of adequate quality are both in short supply and cost prohibitive, so the best compromise is for use to provide you this lovely brace and bit set utilizing polymer handles. We hope you’ll enjoy your tool as much as we’ve enjoyed making it available to you”..

Anyway It’s hard to not be so cynical and hypercritical. Im a traditionalist Or purest of sorts and With the knowledge I’ve obtained in life thus far for how things are, along with it has grown in me a bit more of a sour, salty and feisty attitude as I’ve aged.

I have a couple of hand drills. One is a breast drill and the second is a small hand drill. It is an old American Manufacturing drill out of Greenfield Mass. I need a chuckle for it. I thought I found one but it is not correct. It is a strange thread size. I am not sure what it is. A 1/2 -20 is too big. Can you help me out. I am not looking for a historical recondition. I don’t really have any wall hangers. I use mine.
