Another big difference is that you can't access particle data in VFX, while you can with shuriken. Something to keep in mind when making your decision.

How can I disable a particle from taking over the rotation of the emitter/root?
It's a basic problem...
(In Unreal you can disable/enable this function with a simple boolean switch.)
