I can confirm the whole "blaming yourself" thing. Once I stopped having such unrealistic expectations from myself and started simply thinking about what I can do different, how can I better support my teammates and learning that I'm no professional and that sometimes there are things outside of my control and that I should simply do my best to keep improving and learning, I started getting better pretty quickly.

Watching replays and writing up "what to do"s and what not to has helped me a lot! And really, this applies to anything you want to improve at. Don't make excuses for your shortcomings, but don't start beating yourself up over them either. After all, learning is a process and we all hit roadblocks.

The quality of your videos has massively increased from even just a year ago. It’s nice to see creators grow their audience and content while still keeping the same energy that brought you in. Keep up the good work

I love that most of these are focused on mentality over mechanics. Feel like it’s an aspect of play that’s often ignored, but having the mentality to improve does wonders for allowing that change to happen.

I have an extra tip that I don't think was Said in this video:
Make sure to check your HUD, It can help you and be the difference between life and death. If someone on your team has Tacticooler ready, Check the HUD and go to them to receive buffs. If you see that someone you're fighting has a special ready, prepare to back away and move into a more safe position. Its really useful and can help in dire situations.

there's also one things that makes me better in this game: When things goes abit too chaos, sometimes it is better for you to take a step back and observe the situation for a while rather than rushing in without planning.
Hide in a good spot, observe the current situation (like where's is the enemy's sniper/splatling locating, numbers of attacking frontliners and their wpns, how many teammates are down etc), u could form a good strategy to adapt the situation, (either pushing in, retreating as teammates's jump spot or picking off certain targets or objectives). Works really well.
Sometimes it's best to have intel rather than having good reflexes.

Tunnel vision is definitely one of my biggest problems. I can start out a match so good but quickly zone out and start hyper focusing only on what's directly in front of me instead of focusing on my situational awareness like I set out to do.

None of these really stuck out as big weaknesses of mine that I definitely need to work on (not that I’m perfect at all of them), but I’m actually really happy about that. It shows that I’ve improved by an incredible amount since even just a few weeks ago where a lot of these were definitely things I could easily improve on

I've been stuck at S+0 for about a month now, and this video was very helpful. Thanks again Chara!

As a side note, the excuses thing is also something that can be applied anywhere, not only Splatoon, not only videogames, anywhere, you can't make up excuses because you don't want to admit your mistakes or the consecuences of them.

I like to talk about it as if it were a mixture of self-confidence and humility, you do need to be humble enough so you can admit your mistakes and try to avoid them, but you also need self-confidence to let you know that you can do things and that you are not bad.

It's very hard, but it's helpful anywhere and it prevents you from feeling bad for thinking that you're not good, and from getting tilted/mad for thinking that it's not your fault, it's the others' fault.

Also, please, do not blame your team if you lose a match, they are presumably trying their best or going through a tilt period, try focusing what you can change, and surprisingly enough, the only thing you can change for the better or for the worse, it's yourself, blaming others makes yourself generally angry or tilted and it produces a bad feeling for the others if your feedback reach them.

god i love splatoons community. thanks chara for taking the time to make videos for everyone you cam rly tell that you just want everyone to be better and to improve the game as a whole with your advice! i know i need to break tunnel vision for sure...and the roller example felt like you pulled that directly from my matches yesterday, but it must just be actually that common LOL!

i hope you reach 100k before the end of the year, you absolutely deserve it and more!

Your definitely correct on the tunnel vision.. That killed me at first... Salmon Run Really helped me with that problem. If your setting up a charger shot at a steel head.. immediately SURROUNDED by Small fry's and chums. Basically teaching a lesson.. stick and move.
Great videos by the way. You and Dude have the best.

One additional point that somewhat ties into being afraid of change that I see way too often is *being afraid of deranking, * or in the case of Splatoon 3, *being afraid of losing points.* Your goal is to get better, and you can do that regardless of what rank you're in. If you're in a lower rank than you think you should be, you can slow down and focus more on fundamentals. If you're in a higher rank, you'll be pressured to learn better options and pick up tricks from other players. Either way, don't worry about your rank, because your current rank doesn't really mean anything in the long run, and if you approach playing with a growth mindset you *will* go up in rank. Just play the game.

This was the big hurdle for me back in Splatoon 1, playing turf war for months because I was afraid to lose S rank, but once I bit the bullet and dropped down to A- to start learning how to get better, I ended up making my way back up with weapons I enjoyed more and learned a lot more in the process. I see too many people do the same thing where they're afraid to join ranked battles (in this game anarchy series) when really you're ridding yourself of a huge resource for improvement and are probably making yourself a worse player by not doing so.

These tips are actually useful. The "Dont be afraid of changes" is a really big tip. In splatoon 2 I never used splat charger, but once I actually got used to it, I kept getting a lot of good splats and sometimes I never die.
