There's supposed to be a 5 hour workprint version somewhere which has different actors as the main characters.

He wasn’t furious about being cut out. He was mad about not being told and going to the first press junkets thinking he was the lead. But just spread anything you think

I mean, if you do 10 retakes of 100 lines and then in the final cut you only have 2 lines... What did you do all that effort for?

The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece and Brody should be proud to have been part of it. Art should supercede politics.

Mickey Rourke filmed a scene, he played a shell-shocked sniper... wish they kept it

There’s a thin red line between lead and support

I think it is one of the best if not The Best War / Spiritual films ever made. Certainly there are other great works but this one shines in a very unique way. Like life, war and military operation’s when all is done who could have foreseen the outcome ? Does anyone really have control over their own destiny? How many Hollywood or other film adaptation’s follow the books that inspired them or real events? Author James Jones who wrote the Thin Red Line and From Here to Eternity had joined the Army prior to Pearl Harbor and based those stories on actual people and events. Based is the key word. I can tell You that I met a Mr Poteet who told Me that He grew up in Idaho during the Depression and joined the Army at 15 prior to Pearl Harbor and was stationed there. After Dec. 7, 1941 His Parents signed for Him and He went on to participate in all the actions His unit was involved in. He said the From Here to Eternity was a very accurate depiction of the pre war Army right down to the Car Deborah Kerr as Karen Holmes Drove in the movie. The words of the Song Heavens Gate by Gary Hannan Ring true.

Ohhhh that is messed up!!! He should be able to sue. He agreed to the script as it was presented. He could have says no to it and gotten a better script somewhere. That is jacked !!! Yo let’s find Jim in the parking lot yall !! 😅😂. // Looking at Jim and Adrien was the only reason I watched the freaking movie 🤣

The movie was so completely different than the book you would have thought that they weren't in any way related.

Ok so if only excuse this because it was very early in his career before being at the top. It’s still really messed up because he chose to accept what was presented as the main character. It’s not ok that he just got paid. They make actors sign to so much I’m sure but making a drastic change like that should be addressed with the actor and their agent before it finalized in editing.

Fife isn't the main character in the book

Terry Malick's films may be acclaimed but his working methods with the cast and the crew can be appalling.

Though in this case, Thin Red Line was mediocre at best. Too much philosophy in it, too much cameo characters, too much close ups on actors faces.

A true sham to the author . Rip off greedy . Personal biased to influence people. Right movie budget was there.
