Can’t believe my family did this and survived. My Great-grandad was at Delville wood during the Somme. Don’t have any first hand stories (rightfully) but he was sent into encircled german trenches after a Canadian assault. Durham light infantry. Never went to church back in Teesside ever again. We will remember them

watching this hit me hard, considering paul and his friends were around my age when they went to war. i could never imagine picking up a gun and sitting in a dirty, cramped trench for hours like so many youths at the time did.
