I'm a major contributor on trip advisor and google maps and I strive to always provide an accurate review of places I've been too and when possible providing pictures. The thing that a trip advisor user must watch out for are "FAKE" or "PAID" reviews and most of us can spot these. You provided some great advice on picking dive shops, I'm going to Barbados in November for one day and will see if I can arrange a dive while I.m there

I was in Barbados a month ago and thought it was too expensive; a one tank dive there costs as much as a two tank dive back home 😭. I'll need to save more money. I did walk into the Barbados Blue shop, however. Great video!

I normally use ScubaBoard as a good starting point for suggested centers anywhere, and then use Trip Advisor for my next round of narrowing down. Like you mentioned, the photos are a key part of this step. Also the number of reviews can be helpful. Finally, I email them to get answers to specific questions. The last time I went through this process was for a trip to Grenada, and the dive center which won was actually the sister shop of Barbados Blue, ECO Dive Grenada. Same owners and the staff go back and forth between the two. I'm glad to hear my process led to the same business as you ended up with.
