80’s Halloween KFC Killing | 21-Year-Old Manager Murdered! Death Through The Decades - Robin Hoynes

🌟 THIS IS A NEW SERIES! It's the debut of my Death Through The Decades series. This episode features a Halloween murder at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 1980s. The videos in this series go in depth about what life was like in that decade. What policing was like in the 1980s, technology (or lack thereof), and what the culture was like. I'll be diving into the 80's, 90's, and the 2000's and I've lived through all three, so I've been there! I really hope you appreciate the nostalgia and connect even more with the people who have lost their lives and are frozen in time. In October of 1984, Robin Hoynes was a manager of a KFC in southern California when she crossed paths with a monster.

I'm battling cancer (stage 3 breast cancer and lymphoma). I also have an inoperable brain tumor (it's wrapped around my carotid artery), so I spend a lot of time in bed bing watching your videos. YOU'RE THE BEST when it comes to content and coverage. Thank you for keeping my mind off my diagnosis. (Even if it's only for an hour or two) ❤

“Dad isn’t here, he’s with robin” ABSOLUTELY BROKE ME into tiny pieces. And I’m a hardened true crime listener, I don’t shed tears often but when I do, it’s waterworks, man. That just took my breath away like a punch in the stomach. I hope their family is okay and healing the best ways they can.

I just discovered your YouTube videos and I must say that I‘ve never seen a true crime YouTuber who exudes such warmth and shows this level of respect and compassion for the families involved. I also love to see that you’re so connected to your community 🤗

You definitely need to cover the disgruntled postal employee rampage that happened in the 80's, the case gave us the phrase "Going postal"

KFC made everything from scratch back then, they peeled potatoes, made gravy, made all the sides, etc. Everything was made back then! My cousin said that’s where she learned to cook! She’s an amazing cook today and I thank God for KFC bc of it

When we got to learn about Robyn’s quirky traits her family missed about her, the longest to pray and opening Christmas presents the Oscar Mayer song etc. This suddenly became so painful. You really bring these victims to life Kim, it’s such a beautiful gift you have

I live in Whittier and I've never heard this story! You forgot to mention it's the hometown of former president Richard Nixon who graduated from Whittier High- where I work! I would have s*** myself if I saw you standing outside my workplace! My neighborhood is also the location of the Disturbia house, and they filmed Hocus Pocus (amongst many other movies and commercials) so Halloween is a big deal here.

We had 3 banks of pay phones at the local mall and an entire hall of lockers filled with pay phones. Individual cliques had, "ownership" over each phone and they received incoming calls. So, we could call to see which friends were/weren't at the mall. We also walked the mall in massive groups and did not cause any serious issues while at the mall. Man, I miss those days!!!

The breakfast club, the heathers, the neon, overalls, BTTF. The 90’s hit different. 💖

The kids playing outside thing was the best part. I remember having to go inside when the street lights came on, rising my rollerblades all throughout the neighborhood.
Aw this episode is so bittersweet.

Alot of creators try to act all friendly but your energy shines through girl. You're great and a hard worker. A real role model. P.s. I grew up in the 90s (born 86) and I'm so excited for your new series!!!!

I love the nostalgia. I was born late in 1966. So kid and young teenager in the 70s and teenager and young adult in the 80s. I so miss those days. We never worried about the things I worry about today. The music was the best in the 70s and 80s. The clothing styles were so cool. I know bad things happened then too as this story shows but it was a safer time. Thanks for incorporating the time period into the story.
