A man just died in Brazil after undergoing a phenol peel. It was done by a local inluencer who thought she could be a esthetician/dermatologist even though se had NO training to do that. After his death, she said she couldnt have asked for any kind of heart monitoring because she was not a doctor 🤡

I had a mentor who did phenol peels on her face, neck, shoulders, and arms over the course of 7 months. She’d spent the last 30 years working outdoors in a time before daily sunscreen was a thing, had severe sun damage, and was covered in precancerous spots. So the oncology specialist dermatologist she was seeing recommended phenol peels to get ahead of possibly widespread skin cancer. They sent her to a cardiologist for clearance before they started and did one area at a time, then the next a month later. She luckily didn’t have any serious complications, but she looked terrible and had to switch to part time indoor work for the duration. Last I heard from her she was 2 years out, free from any concerning spots, and looked easily 20 years younger than when she’d had the peels done. For her, the risk and the bother was outweighed by stopping skin cancer, but for most people it’s way too much.

My Mother had a chemical peel when she was in her sixties, along with some other procedures. She looked like an accident victim. It took weeks for her to look normal again. She was beautiful in the first place. My sister and I didn't think she needed it. I think the best way is to take care of your skin for your adult life. 😊

Man. I come across your videos every now and then (not sure why) and I'm amazed at the procedures people endure to look younger/better... I don't even wear makeup, so this stuff is insanity to me. People think I'm 15-20 yrs. younger than I am so, maybe not wearing makeup and destroying your skin is the way to go.

I use to work at a chemical plant that had a phenol unit. Almost everyone i know that worked in the unit came down with some sort of cancer.

I could NEVER do this having mild dermatillomania; which I would genuinely love to hear you cover in the future ❤️ I refused to ever consider peals of any kind knowing the damage I would do to myself and that's food for thought I'm giving to my fellow "pickers" who are considering such an extream vanity project!!

Dr. Youn, here in Brazil a very young guy (27y) died during this procedure. There's even CCTV footage of his last moments and the owner refuses to talk about her qualifications. It would be very interesting to hear your thoughts about this.

I saw a documentary about a woman doing the peel and what they don’t tell you is that afterwards you have to protect your skin from the sun because it is like you had a BIG sunburnt so you cannot expose yourself to the sun for a long period of time (counted in years).
I would never do such things 😰

I can understand why someone would want to do a peel that extreme. I had severe cystic acne on my face and back for many years as a kid which also left some pretty bad scarring. A series of moderate chemical peels got rid of most the scars and also cured my face from cystic acne almost entirely. It wasnt just about trying to look good, it was that I felt like i was disfigured compared to others as a kid and other people really let me know it. Big thanks to my parents for helping me pay for the treatment when I was a young adult.

I'll never and i mean NEVER forget when my boss had this done. Came to work without telling anyone she had a procedure ... The entire salon was silent for weeks. You could cut the air... 😅
