As a person who works with patients who are on GLP1 medications, most people don’t get “Ozempic face” if they’re following a healthy diet while taking the medication. For some folks who were perhaps binge eaters or whose primary issue was just overconsumption of food (ie not things like diabetes, PCOS, hypothyroidism, etc), the appetite suppression and blood glucose moderation can be so intense that they unhealthily lose weight very quickly, causing that gaunt look. We see the same thing happen with bariatric surgery patients.

These medications are important for folks with diabetes and/or high BMI — ie NOT people who are only looking to lose 10-20lb for vanity, but those who are obese who have failed weight loss by other means. It’s a literal life saver for many of my patients, they feel more confident, healthier, stronger, they’re able to exercise more and eat better because they don’t have to worry about food noise or glucose resistance.

Oh my, this is quite concerning. I wonder what this drug is doing to the myelin sheath and to our most fatty organ... the brain... if there will be consequences years from now, such as increased risk of dementia or neuropathy as a result of its use?

I have been on Ozempic for over 12 months on the full dose, and I have not lost any fat from my face, I have from my waist and I'm happy. I will add I'm and Type 2 diabetes.

After my mom died I lost my apetite everyday. It was really bad one week, I didn’t eat for like 4 days straight and my face started to shrivel up like this. I could see every single one of my ribs, it was horrifying. That’s when I realized I had no move on or else I was gonna be next. It’s sad that people are doing this to themselves because of looks and looks alone. Not to mention, it’s a diabetic medication they’re taking. It’s taking from people who actually need it and don’t tell me they make loads of it. It’s diabetic medication, they can never make enough

Jlo at the met this year, you can totally tell she's on ozempic. Her face was sunken in like this too. It's crazy what it's doing to everyone.
