This short video shows you how to configure Software RAID 1 (mirroring) to give you a faster disk read speed and disk redundancy. With this in-place should 1 of your HDDs fail your data will be on the alternative disk. This is the same for windows 7 and server 2008 r2. I hope you enjoy the short tutorial.

Glad it could help, don't forget you need backup aswell as RAID!

It is what does the work to create the array/what resources are used to actually put the data on both disks.
A RAID controller does this automatically which takes little/no resources away CPU and rest of the PC.
Software RAID uses CPU and other PC resources to mirror the data.
These would seem a benefit to the Hardware RAID, but Software RAID is free, and also if you have issues with the RAID card, many time you have to get the similar one to get your Data off. Software RAID you don't.

Im my case yes. I do alot of Windows base tutorials with changes perhaps wouldn't want to make to my PC so perfect. If you want to record your desktop I would recommend CamStudio as this is free. If you are recording gaming I would recommend Fraps.

VMware Workstation. Free trial available - Google 'VMware Workstation'.

The VM was actually running on a ESXi box but recorded locally with workstation.
When you have it running go to VM > Capture Movie

I would say so. As I am working with VMs anyway it is for me.

I'm confused. What's the difference between using Windows7 software RAID vs a motherboard's onboard RAID controller?
