48 Hours in UNOFFICIAL Country | Kosovo - From Backpackers Point of View (2024) | Spin the World

We spent 48 hours in an unofficial country - Kosovo - and we can say that from the backpackers point of view, it's both interesting and challenging. This was our next destination after North Macedonia and it was delighting to return here after 8 years. However, this time we were faced with difficulties that we hadn't experienced or anticipated. Prizren and Prishtina both caught us off guard a bit. If you want to know what exactly was that, jump into the video and see for yourself. Watch, and let us know what you find interesting in Kosovo, and share your thoughts and ideas!

Must-See Prizren

1. Stone Bridge: Open 24/7, free to visit. It’s a public space connecting the city across the Bistrica River.
2. Sinan Pasha Mosque: Generally open daily during prayer times, with free entry, but donations are appreciated. Visitors should dress modestly and respect religious customs.
3. Serbian Cathedral of Our Lady of Ljeviš: The church has limited public access due to ongoing restorations and security measures. It may open occasionally, so check locally for updated information.
4. Crkva Svete Nedelje: Also known as the Church of St. Nicholas, this Serbian Orthodox church doesn`t have fixed hours but is typically accessible when services are held. No entrance fee.
5. Prizren Fortress (Kalaja): Open year-round, and entry is free. The best time to visit is during daylight for panoramic views.
6. Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St. George: Open during religious services, with no set visiting hours. Entry is usually free, but donations are welcome.

Must-See Pristina

1. Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa: Open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, with free entry. The tower offers views of the city for a small fee (around €1-2).
2. National University Library of Kosovo: Generally open during working hours on weekdays (8 AM - 4 PM). Entry is free, but special exhibitions may have fees.
3. Mother Teresa Boulevard: A pedestrian zone open 24/7, with free access.
4. Newborn Monument: Open-air and accessible 24/7, free to visit.
5. Old Green Market (we visited it the first time): Open daily, typically from 7 AM to 5 PM. Free to enter, but the items sold vary in price.
6. The Great Mosque (Çarshi Mosque) (we visited it the first time): Open during prayer times, with free entry, but donations are accepted. Non-Muslims are usually welcome outside of prayer times, respecting modest attire.
