And then only two years later, the W11 was a whole 1.5 seconds faster than this. Insane.

This guy is so insane... if you watched F1 for a long time you know what kind of monsters Vettel and Kimi are, and he manages to somehow find even more so often, and what he did in that last corner, needing to correct like that just at the final turn, impressive. No wonder he has so many poles, sure the car is good but so is the driver.

We need that telemetry comparison again. This qualifying session was insane. Best rivalry Mercedes vs Ferrari, Hamilton vs Vettel. Hoping for an exciting race tomorrow

Loved to see that this pole really really meant something for Lewis and he had to fight very hard for it!

What's blue and not so heavy?
Light blue.

I'll see myself out.

I think we all know Ferrari had the faster car at Silverstone. Just goes to show how great a lap that was from Lewis to still beat them. Real driver talent.

The best thing about this lap actually, is that those were maybe the highest G forces and fastest cornering ever recorded in racing.

Lewis said that Silverstone is now the best track in the world because of how fast the cars can go through corners.

that power slide out the last corner was glorious

This was one of the best and most tense qualys. I mean the Ham, Vettel and Kimi all separated by 0.098? Holy shit. Kimi even had 2 purples. And Ham always delivers man, he can drive. Wish they were this close every race. Lol

One of the greatest lap by Lewis Hamilton. Love you Lewis 😊😊

Fine lap indeed.

While this would be a game breaker for previous seasons, with the gap between the front runners being so marginal, I believe we're in for an amazing race!

Speed, Commitement... When the gaps are so close, the driver makes the difference like Lewis did today.

Lewis is just a better driver than everyone else

All these people hating on Lewis...

He's ahead of his team mate by some distance and beat Vettel fair and square. The bloke is a bit annoying outside of F1 but his talent is just immense. You have to be pretty stupid to think otherwise.

On another note I'd love to see Alonso fight back through the pack tomorrow and hopefully we get some nice tire deg for 2 or 3 stops. Also, gg Leclerc!

What an amazing lap you could tell the Mercedes was being pushed right to the edge! Using every inch of the track and hairpins. Hamilton was even shaking in his post match interviews saying he threw everything into that lap. Just shows how important being in sync with your car is as those fine margins get you over the line

I remember spending 8 hours a day for about 2 weeks on this track in Gran Turismo's GT Academy to rank in the top 50. Ah, those were the times.

Last year Alonso was P1 in Q1! How times change :(

That was really emotional to myself watching it live as i thought it's not possible to beat the Ferraris which now have the advantage of an even better engine than Merc admitted by Cristian Horner during qualy. No wonder Lewis was so emotional ! That half a 10th he pulled off against Seb doesn't reflect the real performance of the 2 manufacturers but just Ham putting a 110% in front of his home crowd. The 2nd half of the season will be absolutely mouthwatering. And have to mention, yet another masterful performance by Charles Leclerc 👌🏻

I know this is pole, but I really want to see how Seb got so close
