i think people just follow eachother and hate things just because everyone else does

I grew up listening to Nickelback, and I quite enjoy their music. I really don't see where the hate is coming from.

I forgot I had a nickelback cd inside the car audio system. I turned on the car and it stared playing. there were other people in the car. they made fun of me for several years. It was so embarrassing but sometimes I secretly listen to them when I'm alone.

Then why doesn't everyone hate American modern pop?

the nickelback hate makes as much sense as my little brother saying aquaman sucks. he never read a comic in his life, and only because of that one big bang theory episode he is always repeating it.

This is THE first time i've ever heard of a criticism of nickleback that actually made sense in the 10+ years i've been hearing it. However it still just seemed like personal opinion not science.

If you’re going to follow this line of logic, of “the band doesn’t seem genuine about what they’re songs are expressing, ” then you better be ready to condemn over 50% of the music industry.

I really don't get the argument that the lyrics don't mean anything, so what your telling me is that some of the songs by Nikki manaj today make any sense? I can't even understand her sometimes and when I watch a lyric video I still don't get it. At least you can understand nicklebacks music. Really just don't understand that point

Because it has become cool to hate on Nickelback. Many of these haters don't give their music a chance (or if they do, they only listen their big singles like "How You Remind Me" and "Someday"). They just hate on them because everyone else does.

You say they don't care about it. But really who actually cares? It sounds nice and if you actually listen to the words...

I don't like Adel either. Nor Beyonce.

I remember in 2001/2002 when I was a teen Nickelback were really popular, that's when they started with the song How you remind me. Honestly I like their first CD it was different, but then I felt like they became too commercial for my taste. Don't hate them however, Chad and Ryan have a lot more talent than most of the shitty "singers" we hear on the radio these days.

I've never been huge on Nickelback, but I could never understand why so many people hated them. Yeah they're pretty much Pop Grunge, but thats no different than pretty much anything out these days. Maybe I have a bias because I don't really listen to lyrics on most songs, to me the voice is just an instrument. I remember when I realized how depressing Castles Made of Sand by Jimi Hendrix was. It used to be an uplifting song to me before a friend pointed out the lyrics.

Personally I love catchy rhythmic chorus strong songs because they're so easy to follow when you hear it for the first time. The constancy and standard format that have even the most musically disinclined following along after the first verse. Even when its a song you hate, if the people around you are into it, its easy to fall into it. They really enable social experiences.

Sure maybe they're a band engineered for sales, market to you. But so is the car you drive, the phone in your pocket, the device your reading this in. Just because something is manipulated to appeal to you, is not a reason to not appeal to it.

She said Nickelback doesn't pour their hearts into the music. What a joke 😂

I would advise that if you are going to criticize Nickleback, actually listen to the songs that aren't getting radio play. Or watch the live at Sturgis concert. Great drinking music!

I'm a proud Nickelback fan! They were victim of radio overplay. "How You Remind Me" made and broke them (for many). Their albums since are SO much better!

So what their argument is that if music doesn't reach you deep down then it's just bad, super bad. They're human beings and just let this go already
