Part 7 and 8 released before the anime.
Part 7 SBR Manga: January 19 2004
Part 8 Jojolion Manga: May 19, 2011
First season of the anime: October 6, 2012

They could've put the two "alt universe" Jojos in the OP if they wanted to but it would not go with the theme of "the destiny of that blood" (Sono Chi No Sadame) as in Jonathan Joestar's bloodline, which ends at Jolyne.



The new continuity is Johnny's bloodline including Jojolion's Josuke and Jodio. I hope I cleared up the confusion.

Also that part 6's 2nd opening 'Heaven's Falling Down' plays that opening part backwards, starting from Johnathan and going to Jolyne

Also it could be that DP had originally planned to animate just the first 6 parts. Or just the fact that the other two are from another universe.
