If only the tanning-obsessed teens in the 00s knew about this. If they're so obsessed with looking orange might as well they do it safely while getting vitamins

Fun fact, this is the same reason flamingos are pink, they turn pink from carotenoid pigments in shrimp

My mom craved carrots constantly when she was pregnant with me, So for the first week after I was born, I was an orange tinted baby.
Edit: People out here saying I had Jaundice like they were there. The doctors checked. No jaundice, just scarlet babie.

I'm a lighter skin black woman. Years ago I was addicted to oranges and orange juice. I thought I had gained a tan but I was looking like Starfire for sure! 😂 I thank God my teeth are still good as well lol.

When my daughter was a toddler she absolutely loved carrots, so much that her tiny nose turned orange. 😅 It was adorable.

This was me as a baby. I loved carrots a little TOO much and ended up looking like a cheeto😂😂😂
Edit: oh wow, that is a lot of likes and people that also were real life Oompa Loompas like me . I still eat a ton of carrots I just eat other things so I am no longer orange

One of my relatives told me she turned orange from eating carrots when she stopped smoking. She would eat carrots instead. I am glad she is still here today.

It looks great on deep melanated skin. Gives you a glow. I consume alot of sweet potatoes, carrots, and peppers. In the summer by skin looks amazing .

I have to say, reddish hand included, her skin looks GORGEOUS that way. It could be considered a bit weird by some, but the slight orange hue gave her "tanning" such a nice color

I don't understand this desire to be the orange but I find it deeply hilarious.

Love the concept of a tan without the cancer

It actually helps your body fight off UV rays from the inside as well, so if you are looking to be outside in the sun a lot on bright hot days eating lots of naturally occurring red/ orange foods will help avoid skin cancer

Makes me remember my firstborn daughter with her cute lil orange nose Tipp 😂😂😂
She was just a few months old and almost every meal i prepared for her had mashed carrots in it. Besides that i often gave her carrot juice and her nose, chin, forehead and cheeks used to be sooo orange 🥕🥕🥕
She was such a cutie and still is today, with her 29 yrs 🥰

Yes I grew up with crawlfish who we fed carrots. It was so fun to watch them turn orange as they grew up. Carrots may not help with your eyesight too much but it'll definitely turn you orange!

Yes! My younger brother ate so many carrots because he was able to reach the vegetable section in the fridge, that my mom thought his liver was failing because he turned yellow. Turns out he's just a little carrot

Perfect for a Starfire cosplay. Maybe eating a ton of blueberries will help out a Homestuck cosplayer lol

My mother was super pale and sunburned very easily but ever since we started to incorporate more gazpacho into our diet she began to tolerate the sun and now she even gets tanned!

Juicing carrots does the same thing. My sister made fresh juice daily and she had a beautiful copper tone. She's a lighter skinned Black woman.

It’s real! In my senior year of high school I ate pumpkin oatmeal for breakfast every morning (I cooked it with pumpkin puree) and my knuckles, palms, and the soles of my feet turned orange after a few months. When I moved to college I didn’t have access to cookware so I couldn’t have my pumpkin oatmeal anymore. My skin turned completely back to normal by Thanksgiving!
