The day is finally here, we’re going to split the body and pan for our 1971 Super Beetle. All of our last few videos have been leading up to this point so follow along for this short but sweet video. We pull 34 bolts and pull the body off the chassis, separating a bond that had been together since 1970 (our car was made in October of 1970).

I also have a 71 super.
I've been going through each of the videos and doing the work with my dad and brother. We just got the body separated and had a blast. Making some great memories.
Thank you for making these videos!

That looks too easy... But once a bolt snaps that can eat up some time. I dig y'all's videos. Thanks for all the information you have. Your parts and assistance is great 👍

Thought I was watching myself, ryobi and Pittsburgh sockets lol. I love seeing others just doing it.

Keep up the good work guys. I can't wait until I pull a couple of irons out of the fire so I can get back to work on my '71 super!

Thanks for all your video, they are really helpful. One thing though, you could speak slower as I always need to play them at 0.75 speed to comprehend the images and what you say .

First of all thanks for your videos! Did you guys do a video on body removal for the '63 bug restoration? I have a '62 I want to remove the body.

I think since it was already done you skipped by a couple of disconnects. The fuel line in the front, the brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinder, the speedometer cable, and if I remember correctly the center tie rod and engine electrical. .

Thank you for this video. Seems pretty easy. I've notices some rust holes in the floor pans of my '71 Super Beetle, and I'm thinking about replacing both floor pans; but it may be hard to pull off in a 1 car garage. I'm thinking about unbolting the body from the chassis, and have the body raised above the chassis on tall jack stands while I replace the floor pans. Does that sound doable? 😬

Is there any need for inner bracing when removing the body from chassis? Will it twist or warp ?

Does the motor have to be out before you take the frame off
