Been getting quite a bit of comments asking for a new Trapdoor Spider video. Today’s your lucky day! Well, kinda. I got a new Trapdoor Spider, but it doesn’t seem to know how to make a trapdoor, hence the title of this video. The first Trapdoor Spider I got (links are below if you haven’t watched) seems to be in pre-molt, so she has sealed off her trapdoor burrow. Hopefully we’ll get a good feeding takedown after she successfully molts. As for the new one, do let me know down in the comments as to why he doesn’t “know” how to make a trapdoor burrow.

It's the breed of trapdoor spider. Your Male spider is a brown trapdoor. That species does not use a trapdoor over its enclosure, and burrows in a funnel of web. The way to distinguish if it's a brown trapdoor enclosure is because the funnel web spins a trip web around its funnel to alert it of intruders, but the brown trapdoor does not.
