Bass Fishing in the Surf - Robbie Northman

Robbie tackles sea bass on the sandy flat ground of Norfolk, employing a few lures and tweaking things in his favour to make them more appealing in the coloured waters as the surf pushes in.

Robbie uses the Savage Sandeel V2 lures and the Sandeel Weedless versions to tempt the Bass.

With a lively kicking action on both the drop and the retrieve, this super realistic sandeel imitation will fool even the wariest of predator fish. The unique jig head helps to ensure the lure moves with a perfect rolling and darting action. The Pro Peg body holder makes it possible to peg the body to the head with a toothpick, creating a very simple and secure hold. The soft PVC body comes pre-rigged with an internal glass rattle that gives off a provoking sound to any nearby hunting fish.

• Super realistic details
• Lively kicking action on both retrieve and drop
• Darting jig head design
• Forged carbon steel hook in tin finish in #3/0 – 4/0 – 5/0 – 6/0
• Removeable glass rattle in body
• Pro Peg holder for effective hold

Enjoyed lure fish for Perch and Pike on my local river with decent results but nowt
I'm getting some bass lures in for use on a holiday in June at Seaford/Beer in Dorset and West Runton in Norfolk for a few days in late July but will, due to the river closed season, get a day in late April to try north Norfolk as I'm on leave for a week...2 hour drive etc.
I was thinking of somewhere like Cley or Weybourne to try as, if I remember from beachcasting days a couple of decades ago, they are very shingly and been searching the interweb for info and, obviously, found your videos (which I watch anyway for Perch and Pike stuff) and yeah, looking forward to a long walk wherever I also been watching the Henry Gilbey and Saltwater Angler channels for info.
I've got some SG Minnows and Gravity Sticks to try along with some various make Sandeel lures to try both weedless and J hook a big fan of weedless on my river fishing trips....certainly helps.

Good video my dude. Please let your finger nails heal, mine used to be like that, it's awful. Takes some time, but they'll go back to normal after a month or so

Hi there just came across your video and was surprised to see how murky the sea was where you were fishing and yet you were still catching! I've always refrained from fishing murky water cos I always thought it would highly unlikely the bass would see the lures. So my question is, is it really possible to catch in murky conditions???
Cheers bro

Wales bass fishing is quite poor currently from the shore. Gwynedd isn't fishing well at all and the bass are staying out in deeper water off shore.

High Robbie, hopefully you might be able to help me with this one.
I have just bought the Savage gear Seeker isp 16 23 and awaiting the 28grm to arrive, I was wondering if there are any kind numbers or statistics when it come to a
comparison between the trebles and the single hook, hooking rate ??
I can appreciate the benefits of the single hook for catch and release, yes I know you can do this with the trebles as well, ( o' by the way I flatten all my barbs down to a tiny whisker.
I have put the single hook on the 16grm, but not really sure to be honest whether to change all three or not.
Another one not to sure what to do, when you buy them they come with the trebles attached on two split rings, if changing to the single hook option should you attach double ring as the treble is, or remove the small ring and just have one split ring ? ie the larger of the two rings.
Hope you are able to help or any suggestions or findings that you might have that could answer a few questions.
Many thanks,
Les.

Hi Robbie, I'm having a lot of luck using these savage gear sandeels over mixed ground here in Ireland. I've never tried the surf beaches with them. Im on the west coast Kerry and Clare is where I fish for bass. What colour do you find the best off the beaches when the light fades...

Robbie, High fella, might i ask, what venue are you at ?? UK ? or somewhere else ??

I'm new to this, trying to use a similar weedless system. Fishing in Ireland, but no luck till now. I'm trying to understand the gear, and the places in which I could fish. Any suggestion? Cheers!
