I always loved James' role in this movie. The learned nerd fish out of water kind of thing really worked next to Kurt Russel's hard core cynical role. and together they meet. Yes there are a lot of plot holes in this movie. But from an acting standpoint they both were aces in my book.

It just dawned on me that the color of the Stargate, the color of the lights on the ramp and in the room, the overhead and long shots, and, of course, David Arnold's amazing score, mimic the tone of the reveal of the captured ship in the first Independence Day. I guess Devlin and Emmerich knew they had a style that worked.

One of the last of a handful of sci movies that made me feel like that kid watching Star Wars in ‘77 at age 5. So cool, such an intriguing idea. Just love it.

Stargate SG1 control room: looks like a bunch of NASA mission control guys. Stargate Movie control room: bunch early tech-nerds. Gotta love these old movies

This was one of my favorite films combining two awesome subjects Ancient Egyptians and their mysterious pyramids and Ancient Aliens visiting Earth! Though there were a couple questions: - 1. Discovered in 1928 what delayed the military concern until 1994? 2. The cover stones middle 6 markings were in order of alignment and of course located on the Stargate's center ring should have allow them to just dial up those 6 symbols then just guess the 7th symbol which then would connect them to the other Stargate, not needing Dr. Jackson's constellation results. 3. Once the Robot went through to the other Galaxy wouldn't that transmission take 100's or 1000's of years to get back to Earth? 4. What powered the Stargate on the distant planet.
