How to Transfer Ownership of Google Drive Files

There are plenty of reasons why people may want to transfer ownership in Google Drive. If you are the owner, you might want to pass along responsibility of a project to someone else in your organization. If you’re a Google Apps Admin, you probably want to have a process in place when employees leave the company.

I've done this before. But now the "owner" is not an option.
I just see "can view" and "can edit." There is no "is owner."

It would be nice if the video at the outset mentioned the procedure was using the Better Cloud product, G Suite it seems. Without saying so, it gives the impression any Google user could do this.

How can I go about transferring file/folder ownership to a user of a different domain? This situation arises when two organizations are merging, the old domain will no longer exist, but the files in it need to be transferred to the new/existing domain. ..Thanks

Many thanks for the clear advice. However, I am a regular user that have shared files with many people over time. Therefore, I don´t possess the G Suite, thus not having access to the Admin Console or Beettercloud. Is it another way to bulk transfer the ownership of folders and files (rather than one by one)? Many thanks - yet again and - in advance.

after i change owner of the file, will the file still take out my space in the drive or it will move to the new owners space (i ask this in case i want to clear space cause there is a limit and i don t want all the old files to still take up my space)) thx

is it enough to have 1 bettercloud-account to give this ownership to another google-user account or that user-receiver also has to be registered on bettercloud?
