Replacing a failed switch in a cisco switch stack is one of the frequently done task in the network world. This must be done properly without rebooting entire switch stack that can cause major network outage in a production environment, especially with a large switch stack. Thanks for the demo. I need to do one next week so good to see. I will need to reboot to make the replacement master again though.

Thank you for your video😁, because this kind of cool you can set ether-channel between them, if the device using the etherchannel LACP technically the device will never down during that one switch outage.

What I thought you said no outages? You reload the switch and it rebooted so wouldn't that be an outage if it were live?

But the priority hight value switch should become master right ?

use "CTRL + SHIFT + 6 + X" to break that ping; Also I don't think its recommended way to configure the new switch priority prior as master; you can do it post configuration pull up after switch is stacked

You have given priority 15 to the new switch means your existing configuration would be collapsed....this is going to be a massive failure in live network... You have to give least priority to the switch which you are adding so that it will take the configuration from existing MASTER. Once done change the priority to 15.

Question: in the startup of the stack...usually there is the config
sh run | i provision
switch 1 provision xxxx.xxxx.xxx.xxxx
switch 2 provision yyy-yyyy-yyyy-yyyy".

When you replace the switch 2 dont you need to remove the "switch 2 provision yyy-yyyy-yyyy-yyyy" line and replace it with the new command "switch 2 provision zzzz.zzzz.zzzz.zzzz"?

conf t
no switch 2 provision yyy-yyyy-yyyy-yyyy
switch 2 provision zzzz.zzzz.zzzz.zzzz
