There are many streets and squares in the city. The main street is called Khreshchatyk Street. Independence Square is a very popular place.
Kyiv is the political, economic, scientific, industrial and cultural centre of Ukraine. It has a lot of museums, art galleries, concert halls, theatres and cinemas.
The city is very green. Kyiv is also famous for its attractive parks. A lot of trees grow on both sides of Kyiv`s streets. The chestnut tree is a symbol of Kyiv.
The city has a well-developed transport system. Many buses, minibuses, trolley-buses, trams and cars carry passengers around the city. There is also an underground, a railway station, an airport and a river port. Kyiv is a modern European city.
