1968 Charger Nascar Build // Ep 17: The Street Legal Stock Car Walkaround

Tons of work has gone in to this 1968 charger stock car build so far. I wanted to make a video explaining where the car is at this stage so far and what has been done. There is still a ton of work to do! The car started out as a perimeter pavement oval track car with a 12in shorter wheel base which I extended right down the center to allow more room and to match the factory 1968 charger wheel base. The motor is a mopar 383 big block backed by a 727 built transmission and a winters quick change rear end.

A lot of body modifications had to be made to fit on the chassis but keep in mind the car I started with was extremely rusty and 80-90% of that need to be cut out anyway.

In the future I plan on adding vintage style race numbers, windshield and back glass, finish the fire wall, and a lot more to make it actually "street Legal" and drivable.

Stay tuned for more updated on the Heavy Metal build!

let me know if you guys have any questions about the build!

Now you really need to make a car hauler out of that old dodge big truck. That would be an awesome set up hauling the racecar on the back! Too cool!

Great job on this car and all the rest of what you’ve done. I first saw you on Roadkill and enjoyed meeting you at the May Farms car show last July. I work for Cruisin’ Productions and we ran that show and a full schedule of others. We’ll have a great year in ‘23 and I hope to see you on the circuit

This is so awesome to see. The 68 Charger has to be one of my favorite cars due to the timeless body lines and classic circle tail lights. I recently had a 2007 Nascar Truck complete with everything including the shell go for sell in my area for $5k and someone beat me there by 15 mins. I'd love to do a project like this but until then I'm enjoying watching your channel.

Can you give a tips on buying a perimeter chassis? Look for the most complete chassis minus engine and trans? Ones around me are $4k minus eng and tran.

May still be a long way to go, but you've gotten far already! We'll done!

It looks like you got the engine behind the front axle too. Is this a front-mid engine car?
