Average laptop with Ubuntu will be more than what you need

The shared clipboard with your phone is on Windows if you have a Samsung phone.

Edit: It seems the 'Phone Link' in Windows works with many Android devices, not just Samsung.

I have the trinity : Linux, MacOS and Windows. Linux if I want to dev something specific, MacOS for Android and Windows for gaming !

I will go ahead with MacBook any time. Currently I'm working on retail banking app in which even if you add a single line of code Android Studio used to take min 1hr to build & re-run the app on Windows machine although it has i7 with 16 GB RAM (even if you assign full/max heap size for Android Studio). On other hand, on MacBook Pro M1 with 16GB RAM, entire project was built in max 5 mins. This is a huge difference

I work on ultimate combo: I do frontend development on Windows (kind of hobby), android development on Arch Linux and IOS & KMM development on MacBook

Linux only user since late 90s. Used windows at work in the 2000s. When Apple Silicon MacBooks were released, I bought an M1 Pro and haven't looked back since.

Also, as I know comfortable KMP development (with iOS emulator) is available ONLY on macOs, so that's also a reason

Windows, navigation and file management is pain in macOs if used by keyboard. Also there are many keyboard shortcuts that clash. It has big plus - it Linux origin hence terminal.
But why bother if Mint or Ubuntu have all plusses and maybe no gaming

My Potato PC 4GB RAM with void linux and dwm is enough for me to work with Android

Linux can revive almost all weak PCs, especially when all system takes only 0.2GB of RAM

So yes I struggling with some performance, g.e. I supposed to watch your videos and launch apps on my phone, but I really like App development and I have no choice, I do what I want with your help, your courses are the best and I very appropriate your work

Tried everything from arch to mint, macos and windows. As from macos perspective - it's better at some UX points, but also it's clunky in other stuff like file management and paid features (consider apps for productive devs). I paid a lot for a machine and i need to pay more? Do I need to upgrade every 2 gens? Nah, I don't benefit so much from this.

It's rather a linux or windows choice for me. Linux is like better macos, with more features for devs, and windows is just about out-of-the-box experience. Both of them have their flaws, just like macos, but I see more cons for the mac side.

Windows with My Phone now supports most features that macOS has for connecting your phone to your pc.

Also if you're doing Android dev, the MacBook Air M2 is plenty fast enough! I did upgrade to 16 GB RAM and I would recommend that. It's faster than any but the most expensive Windows laptops, and is quieter (no fan) and has much better battery life.

I use windows and will never buy an apple product with my own money just to thank windows for its affordablity in my learning days.

If You are a professional developer then Linux is your choice. It is free. It is flexible. It is powerful. It gives you all what MacOs can offer and more. And you don't pay a lot of money for MacBook and for any software for it.

I'm on a Linux based OS. Currently Fedora but I might switch over to NixOS or Vanilla OS. I was previously looking for a new laptop though and did consider Macbooks so thanks for making this video.

Use WSL on Windows or Ubuntu or linux and you get pretty much the same.

The hardware on mac just feel a lot nicer tough, keyboad, trackpad, camera. The OS is super smooth too.
