Was in military 22 years. Mole skin: Cut a hole size of blister and place around it. Take a second layer, no hole and place on top of base layer. Wrap medical tape on foot around the mole skin, put sock back on. Trust me, better than placing mole skin on blister. Just FYI

I recommend fishing line and aluminum cans for a security system. Tie the fishing line around your camp site with the cans on the line. Add a couple pebbles in the cans. When something trips the line it will rattle loudly and alert you.

I have worn two pairs of thin socks for decades. Walked many thousands of miles. Never had a blister.

I would recommend keeping a small magnifying sheet in the mini SAS book. The print is tiny.

Rule number one..tell no one you're a prepper. Especially on social media 😆

Those of us who live in very rural areas are always prepared. This isn't 'prepping'; it's old fashioned, self sufficient country life. I remember the Ice Storm of 1998 where people were iced in without power for weeks; THAT'S the kind of thing I prep for. I have a large garden every year and months of food preserved from the garden, a whole house generator that runs on natural gas (probably the last power source to fail), plus a solar power station in our camper, our own well and a stream on the property. A wood stove and wood supply (Michigan in the winter in a tent?). Weaponry of course. I have no intention of 'bugging out'; I live in the kind of area 'preppers' would flee to.

When the SHTF a lot of that stuff is going to be useless. Food, water shelter and a way to cook and protect yourself is all you need. Skills, skills, skills. Know how to use what you have.

One thing so simple that no one ever thinks of is paper, pencils and permanent markers (sharpies).

Super glue and baking soda will cure into a hard plastic like substance. Ive used to repair holes and cracks in all sorts of items, can be used to waterproof small items!

Old pill bottle. Put alcohol wipes ( NOT wet wipes) and strike anywhere matches inside. If the wipes dry out, you have a piece of dry cotton to use.

Something to put out a fire. If you're carrying it, a fireproof blanket. It you're sheltering in place, canister types. But, you will be using open flames for cooking, heating, etc., so having something to put out an accidental fire is absolutely essential.

While in the military, one of my assignments was working ops with a 4-hr deployment tether, so our bags had to be ready to go. I’d wrap several inches of duct tape around some old plastic cards (like old subscription cards) which was more compact than keeping it on the roll. When I was in SERE, I rolled my ankle during the evasion portion. I used duct tape to wrap and stabilize my ankle (on top of socks) for couple days until the rescue. Worked like a charm! It was a bit difficult but not impossible to pull off.

Prepper granny with raised in the military, Critical Care and ER nurse. I recently read a preppers advice to have a chest tube available for chest trauma. I am a traumanurse, certed in peds and adults. Chest tube? Unless you pack a stokes basket( unlikely) or have the time to make a stretcher. This person wont walk out. Sometimes you have to treat and keep moving.

I use the motion alarms for garden security and to let me know when a car comes down my long driveway. They`re also good to let you know when an animal takes the bait when hunting/trapping. Mine have volume control and can be used with small power stations if camping.

I have a couple driveway alarms... their names are Goose and Saxa. 🤣 There's no mistaking that someone pulled in, that's for sure. (And most who do, won't come to the door, lol.) Those two set off the rest of the house, too, so by the time all is said and done, we have six driveway alarms, lol. They come highly recommended! 😉
