Windows 11 will require a Trusted Platform Module 2.0 (TPM 2.0) chip in order to install. In this video, I'll explain what TPM is, why it's necessary, and how you can enable it on your PC.

TPM is a way of storing and generating encryption keys in hardware, which is safer than using a software approach because it is harder for malicious software to access. To make their OS more secure, Microsoft has decided to require this functionality on all Windows 11 PCs.

On the other hand, it might say that a compatible TPM cannot be found. But don’t worry – you might be able to enable TPM functionality on your system, and here’s how.

If your PC was built after the mid-2010s, there’s a good chance that it has TPM functionality, regardless of whether it has a dedicated chip. This is because many CPUs actually include TPM in their firmware! Intel’s trade name for this technique is “Platform Trust Technology”, or PTT, and they started including it with some of their 4th generation Haswell processors in 2013. Most AMD Ryzen chips also include so-called “fTPM” technology.

You can enable these technologies in your BIOS - and in the video, I'll show you how.

I think Microsoft should make this clear.

In my case (Gigabyte MB with an Intel B360 chipset, AMIBIOS firmware):
1. Press DEL to enter setup
2. Go to Advanced mode, if you're not in it already
3. Go to the "Peripherals" tab
4. Select the "Trusted computing" menu item
5. Enable trusted computing
6. If the TPM option doesn't show up, restart and re-enter the BIOS
7. Go to the same place
8. Enable TPM 2.0

Thank you. I kept looking for TPM and you were the first person to show what it’s called in BIOS

Hey Andy, I’ve been wrapping my head around why my PCs saying ‘system requirements not met’, figured out it was because of this reason.
You made it so simple, thank you!

On most Asus boards TPM can be enabled like this:
Intel. Advanced>PCH HW configuration and go for PTT and enable firmware TPM.
AMD. Advanced>AMDFtpm>Device selection and enable Firmware TPM.

If applied press F10 and reboot.
To be certain recheck with that Windows tool or type in TPM.msc (which I am certain you only find in Win 10 Pro but I cannot confirm that)
If properly enabled all info can be found there!)

Thank you for your help. I did follow the step from the Microsoft website but got lost at the point of finding PCH - FW configuration as they didn’t mention this. Awesome 👏🏻

Super Helpful! I just placed an order for a TPM Module from Asus but I realised I no longer need it as my AMD has the firmware version! Now the Windows 11 app says my PC can run it! Thank You so much
