Sounds like you have a bit of a problem. Welcome to the addiction club! 😂. Happy sawing friend! Appreciate the overview.

I've been running an 031, then a 290 farm boss for the past 10 years. The 290 has been a top notch saw. I work it hard and put it away wet, ran every cheap, crappy, 2 stroke oil there is. I use to work at a outboard motor shop and every time someone would upgrade their motor to a different brand they would get rid of their old oil at the shop. I would take it home and burn it up in motorcycles, outboards, weedwackers, snowmobiles, and my CHAINSAWS. I've even used 30w as mix. The 290 has cut over 100 full cords of firewood and it still has the original spark plug in it and runs just as strong as it ever did. But, like you I wanted a bigger saw. 462 was my fist choice, then the 400cm. I live on an island in southeast Alaska and my still dealer had a 400 on the shelf and said he had a 462 ordered but said it might be a week, might be a year before he gets it. I went with the sure thing, the 400. I was afraid if I waited it would be sold soon and I would be out of luck. I put west coast dogs on it but haven't even started it yet. I had already got my usual 10 cords last fall before I got the saw. Just waiting for spring to start cutting again, looking forward to it. Not too much though, it's still snowmachineing (sledding) season.
I haven't went back and looked to see if the 462 was available yet. I'm afraid I would buy it if it was. I already have the 031, ms210, ms290, and the 400cm. I'm pushing 63 and don't need another saw. Probably better to spend my money on more guns, (that I don't need) and more ammo, that I do need.

Merry Christmas. I should have wrapped mine that I bought in Oct, and opened it on Christmas morning.

My MS261C was hands down one of the best purchases I have made. Stihl has come a very long way with technology in these new saws they are incredible to say the least!!

I pick my ms400 up October 1st. It took 5 months to get here. It cost me $1, 112.74. I ran one take a fuel through it so far. I'll be running it tomorrow though.
