The characteristics of evil are to lie, cheat, steal, kill and destroy. Evil also has no limits, no self-control, and is never satisfied.
If it got everything it wanted, it still wouldn't be enough because it's devoid of peace, joy and contentment.

So it needs good to exist if just to have something to attack and take from since it also creates and builds nothing of its own.

Satans same song, is song like a lead singer taking heavenly sounds and bringing all attention to creation, words of bringing the level of creation to that of God. When there is only one blameless God that serves morality, love and justice.

I think the guy asking the question has a point. Philosophically, there is no way to tell if good is a function of evil or the other way around. I don't think Dr. Turek is answering his question. The fact that a tyrant may justify his evil by pretending it is good has nothing to do with the existential, or dare I say "ontological", qualities of good and evil; only with what humans perceive as good and evil and what they want to pursue.

Good and evil are opposites but one does not come from the other or needs the other. We do evil things for something good but that's because we like good and want good by definition, it's not that evil needs it.

Why do people try to ask all these complex and convoluted questions. The Bible is simple, Christ gives us simple instructions. When Christ preached the parable of the good Samaritan, I guess some of these folk would try to work out assorted stories to twist the Samaritan into something he wasn't.

Love God. Love your neighbours. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked. All simple stuff.

Only God is good, and nobody is good. Jesus said good trees produce good fruits, bad trees produce bad fruits cannot produce good fruits.

Again, how strong is your faith, believing, and trusting in God. Satan also believes in God but disobey God and doesn't trust God. Satan trusts himself and wants to be God. (Satan was given freewill to choose to do good or evil. Satan chose to do evil).

Before sin, there is goodness exist now. No all have sins where have goodness only goodness comes from God.
We need the helper is the Holy Spirit that lives in us so we can love one another, love God, forgive others and trust, and obey God to stop sinning.
